Engine vibration/rough 800rpm-1500rpm

Postby ix9 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:26 am

So this just started happening this morning.

Rough idle (shaky, not noisy)
Then when revving in neutral it has a harsh vibration - until 1500rpm then it stops and revs completely freely.

Oil and filter were recently changed less than 500km ago (oil level is still perfectly fine)

Car is driveable, but when shifting into a gear and accelerating below 1500rpm has massive hesitation and lack of power.

Anyone care to throw a few ideas my way? (will pay in kind thoughts and invisible smiles) :)

Think I tracked it down, a faulty coil pack!

Came home from work after a jolting and shuddering drive, the cat is glowing red and it smells funny!

Fuel soaked cat due to a coil pack failure sounds pretty plausible!

Have you found a solution?

If not, is the engine light on? If it were a coil pack you'd imagine it would throw misfire codes....

Sounds more like a stuck open injector - no?
