Do they just fit straight up cause grimspeed doesn't list the ez30 as an applicable engine. Dan from CarMods seems to think it wont be a problem & both AT & MT H6's would have a lot to gain from it. :D

Thoughts anyone??

Duplicated post from vendor section.

Anyone got any opinions/experience on using a lightened crankshaft pulley on a H6?

Doh!
We would need a 4 bolt unit like the 3 that Phat imported early 2010. Anyone here one of those 3??
Will ask Phat & see if I can track down the supplier. Unless someone else can provide some info?

Just get Jesse Streeter or Phat to order them in.

Righto, so rough price from Jesse Streeter is $265.
Fair bit of dough for me, especially when i don't know if it'll make any NOTICEABLE difference.
Grimmspeed definitely will not fit -wrong number of belt ribs for a start.. Shame, it's only $150.
Perrin have replied with the all too familiar " sorry, not available for EZ30 engines" (so sick of hearing that)..
So the unit above seems to be the only H6 lightened pulley on the market. Question is, are we honestly likely to notice any bloody difference??

Any advice on the probable gains would be welcomed.

Cheers, Jay.

Hi Jay

Don't fall into the pretty is better trap the photos you have are lightened crankshaft pulleys not harmonic balancer's .
The difference is a harmonic balance pulley as fitted by Subaru has a rubber dampener built into it the rubber ring within the pulley this is designed to absorb and eliminate vibrations that are generated buy all the other pulleys and belt. With out the dampening effect of the HARMONIC BALANCER these vibrations will be transferred to the end of your crankshaft causing the end bearing to shit its self. The benefit of a lightened crankshaft pulleys on a 200 HP @ 6000 RPM 2.2 liter 16V DOHC turbo Honda engine engine built for hill climbing was 2HP so on a stock H6 it would be very close to sweetfuckall

Just my opinion but bank managers and managing directors of company's with 2 employers may know better

Actually, glad you brought that up BUDDAH cause I've been reading a lot of differing opinions on this with some saying "it's not a harmonic balancer" etc etc -but I trust the advice of you guys foremost.

So is it a case of technically, the "it's not a harmonic balancer" statements may be true, in that the crankshaft's harmonic vibrations are not dampened by the pulley, but in reality, the pulley's dampening function is to isolate the vibrations produced by the ancillaries upon the end bearings??

I sure as hell won't be doing anything that jeopardises the longevity of those end bearings that's for bloody sure!!

The H4 crew can choose from various LIGHTENED harmonic balancers on the market, getting the best of both worlds ...but for the H6-ers? SFA!! :angry2:

Even tho I've heard some good things about LCPs giving a 'revier, more alive' engine, I personally won't pursue this mod any further until a LIGHTENED harmonic balancer is available to us H6-ers. (...G'day Tim  )

Thanks for your advice BUDDAH, very much appreciated.

Think I might save my money for a certain CAI that's in development... 8)

Cheers, Jay.

Would you like to know the benefits of a much heaver crankshaft pulley on a opposed cyl engine
