Strange freeze frame data

Postby RX25SE » Fri Jan 17, 2014 8:01 am

I had the MIL turn on while towing and remain on for a day or two. Still ran smooth, just a bit down on power which I felt like a cam or ignition timing issue.

Two codes were logged, both Cam A 'over advanced' or similar, one for each bank.

Unfortunately the MIL went out 10min before I put the scan tool on it so the live data would show nothing but the odd thing was the freeze frame data.
It all looked OK, fuel trims a little out left and right but the engine speed showed 45,000 rpm. (I know the H6 can rev, but seems a little high :P)

My suspicion is the crank angle sensor is playing up, loosing the reference (TDC) point so the ECU thinks it has lost track of cam position.

Has anyone seen this before?
Is the H6 known for crank sensor faults?

I have been reading about various missfire codes so I'm wondering if these are crank sensor related also. Mine occasionally missfires/rough idle briefly but never logs codes, I would expect to see at least a P0300 so this is why I suspect the crank sensor. That, or its the non standard tune.

Car is a MY07 30RB manual.
