Hey all,

Thinking of buying a MY06 3.0 Spec B... it's done 149,000kms and still has the original clutch and brakes (it's had the pads done though).

Its a 6MT wagon. Can get it for $10k... everything is stock.

Does that sound like a good price? What kind of things might go wrong with the car in the next 50,000kms or so... I'm guessing i'll need to do the clutch (what might that cost?).

Also what would be the best bang-for-the-buck mods to make it look and handle nice? (other than the raptor supercharger) I'm thinking window tint, sti rims, maybe led tail lights, hid headlights... suspension goodies? (and what would each of those things cost?)

Just trying to do a quick estimate of what it might cost me to get it looking and feeling a bit less stock...

Kim, that's a steal!

Heaps of things you can do to make the handling better but first off I'd recommend a thicker rear sway bar and lower control arm bushes + a decent wheel alignment

$10k is very cheap for a manual wagon!
Has it had its 150k km service done yet? If not, that's another expense to consider...

Your ideas for future mods are on the right track (along with Al's)...you'd be looking at approx:
Window tint - $300
STI rims - $1500-2k (or copys for $800 - i know which one is more bang for your buck lol)
LED tail lights - $300
HID headlights - $50-100
Rear sway bar - $180 (optional RSB mounts $80-100)
Lower control arm bushes - $150-240
+ a front lip. $200

No worries. Off the top of my head - all the oils (engine, diff, trans) air filters (oil, air, fuel), coolant, brake fluid, possibly spark plugs (or inspect them). Probably be looking at around $600-$800 (the latter being from a stealership lol)

It's about $500 of fluid alone.

Might see if the current owner will get the 150k service done for me - and I'll add it to the purchase price. That way if there's any issues I won't discover them on the 1500km drive home

Bugger, I think the one for $10k has fallen through - someone offered him $12k.

Still a good price, but considering it's almost due for the 150k service and a new clutch... that'll push the actual cost to $14k... and for that price, I'd rather wait for a nice one that's already had a bit of work done... (eg: Hoffs for $15k)

Based on one of the longer term members who has a MY05 3.0LRB sedan... He's done damn near 200,000kms & still has the original clutch, & he doesn't baby the car either.

I recently replaced my original clutch at 250,000ks only because I got an Exedy for cheap.

Looking at a new clutch too, that exedy does not match there website for 3.0rb??
