3.0L H6 on E85 = WINNING

Postby KiDo_Tuning » Sun Mar 03, 2013 10:16 pm

Turns out that the stock injectors can support E85 once tuned correctly(around 70% IDC on 98, 89% on E85) and pending final implementation within a few weeks, the 06 onwards 1Mb ECU's will have Dual Fuel available allowing owners to run on E85 or 98. E85 so far has seen a further 18% increase in power for NA H6's(say 210Kw@flywheel on pump, then 240+Kw on E85) with improved throttle response and even further fuel economy improvements. Since the stock injectors are used, the Fuel Economy Meter is accurate, as E85 will use more injector pulsewidth showing a true fuel economy value :)
As part of this, will also be implementing Check Engine Light Flash on Knock detection

Hoping to get the earlier 04/05 512Kb ECU's to get a simplified version of the E85 patch but for those not wanting E85, I can load in the CEL Flash on Knock Detection patch so you know if/when you have a bad tank of fuel etc

So pre-face models won't be able to run duel fuel tune ?
And you say fuel economy improvements as. Improvement over stock or even better then a tuned car running 98 .
Power figures like that would be pritty nice to have

Keep me posted Matt sounds interesting.

Did 600 k in the H6 this weekend mostly highway driving between 100 and 120 with spirited overtaking on 98 - averaged 8.4l/100.

What hardware modifications did you need done for the e85 tune?
Also is there any chance the injectors in a stock 2.5i are good enough for e85 with a tune or is an injector upgrade needed?

How about a pre-face 2005 MY06? I'm guessing no?

Different sized ECU makes things a little more complicated.

Could easily get 750km+ out of a tuned H6 on the highway.
I drove to Echuca (100-110 on cruise control for three hours) the weekend after i got mine tuned and with half a tank, i got 380km's.

Pre-facelift 3r's seem immediately more keen to run e85, make it happen Matt!

You dont even need a tune, I drove from Melbourne to Sydney at the end of last year and 20km's after filling up, the estimated "km till empty" was reading 750km
Having had a tune, it would have been higher

Exciting stuff. Wish I had a newer ecu and wish e85 was more common around brisbane!

Fuel pump and a new fuel filter only ;) Stock injectors are fine

07+ 2.5i have a 1Mb ECU which makes for easy implementation :)
