Just remind me though - with a E85 tune, you can mix up to 50% with 98 and it's ok?...and would it be worth adding an octane booster to help the engine cope with the 50/50 mix?...

Any rough estimate on your next trip to Perth?... I'll organise my next exhaust upgrade for when you're here.

50/50 mix is fine on the E85 tune, just hates full 98 as it runs REALLY rich

Not too sure how much research and mods you have done so far, but you have found the right thread. Have a good read through this and other threads to get a feel for the pros and cons. In a nut shell, the starting point is to get your car tuned... Do a little bit of research, but hopefully it leads you to Kiddo and he will work some magic on your H6. Even if you don't end up with E85, you should def think about a tune. You will need to upgrade your fuel pump in addition to a new tune.

I've had my SpecB H6 running on e85 tuned by kiddo now for 2 weeks and its worth the time and effort! (Thanks kiddo/matt!)

Cheers,pix.

I've already had a tune mate, wanted the actual specifics as in (from what I can gather from a short read)
1. Meet Matt for the E85 tune
2. Run 3 full tanks of e85 on stock pump and filter
3. Upgrade fuel pump and filter and sock and whatever else

Wondering if you could also run e-flex from caltex as well as the united e85 on the same tune or if they require different tunes

Sounds like you know whats going on. This is the order I did it... there might be other ways.
1. Instal new pump (tank empty). Double o ring as per advice on this thread.
2. Waited patiently for tune.....anticipation nearly killed me.
3. Drive to petrol station (tank empty)
3. Flash E85 tune at service station
4. Check knocks etc and send logs to tuner
5. 3 to 4 tanks on E85. Replace fuel filter strainer (yet to be done).

Run a few tanks of P100 on current tune. Purpler bowser head at United

Replace stock fuel pump and filters(one pre pump flter with a Toyota/Denso filter and then a genuine Subaru or Toyota Denso post pump filter cartridge) I have parts numbers I will post up :)

Drive to me with P100 and arrive hopefully with the fuel light just having come on. Drive to Kirrawee or Yagoona for some sugary goodness.

WIN

Really, why would that be?

2.5i difference is not as drastic, H6 compression means I need to go safe on both to compromise a little.

Direct plug in replacement for stock fuel pump, ensure the workshop(or you) fit BOTH O rings to the top side of the fuel pump to prevent a loss of fuel pressure :)
New fuel filters are:
Post fuel pump filter from Subaru for $142($99 trade price) and part number is: 42072-AG140 and it is a white intank fuel filter body
Pre pump filter(not the supplied DW65c filter) from Toyota Dealership, you want: 2321750100 which is a pre-pump filter for around $20 or so(part is froma Supra and Prius but fits our Subaru's as it is a Denso part)

Would it be recommended to change the fuel lines to braided/teflon?

No need, late model cars do not have porous fuel lines. It was explained in the other E85 thread

I got a good deal on a Ryco intank filter by price matching an online store at repco.

My local repco wouldn't do it, but I rang another and the guys agreed to match the following:

$68 + $6.95 (delivery)

http://www.getcarbitz.com.au/ryco-premi ... &ai_part=Y

So I paid in store at repco $74.95.

I can probably find the receipt if it would help anyone.

Hi, guys!

I'm typing from Brazil and here the standard gasoline has 20-25% of ethanol, so, every car runs with E20-25. I'm very very interested in put my Outback H6 '05 to run with E85. Every gas station here has the E100, so, I can mix E25 with E100 to get something like E85. I read the 18 pages of this post. I saw that basically I need to change de pump and filter, but I didn't understand if I can get the tuning from Matt and if I can do it by myself (tactrix?). So, any additional information would be nice.

Thanks!

Niveiro.

I have a friend in Sao Paulo who can assist and E100 is fine too. If your not near Sao Paulo then we can do it via Tactrix as well

Thanks, Matt! Can you tell me who are your friend in Sao Paulo? I'm a member of the Clube Subaru in Brazil. Maybe your friend is a member too. Unfortunately, I'm 900 km far from Sao Paulo :-(
