I believe it's recommended to replace your fuel filter at the same time as you do the pump.

So what filter is this in '05 onwards??
I know it's in the tank itself, but i also just bought a dw65c, so will it come with a filter or do i need to order one from subaru?
If a subaru part, does anyone have a link / part# / idea of price?
Cheers.

What people refer to as the filter is the pump housing inside the tank. This has a pre-filter built into it. This is available from Subaru Australia with part number 42072-AG140. See pic below.

As for the sock filter that comes with the DW65c, they are said to potentially cause pickup problems in our cars, so most people re-fit the factory sock filter to the new pump. Unfortunately, Subaru do not sell the sock filter separately as it is not a serviced item, it's only available when purchasing the pump from Subaru. However, an identical part is available from Toyota for around $20, part number 2321750100. See pic below.

Being that the E85 is going to strip a lot of shit off the inside of your fuel lines, the common recommendation is to not change the filters until after 3 or so tanks of E85 have gone through.

Hmm no $65 just for the part, from genuinesubaruparts.com

They're usually the best on price, but if the part numbers match up then go for it I suppose :)

Nice find!

How long do they take to arrive?

Nobody has retrofitted a bracket from an older liberty to move the filter back into the engine bay?

You can get a genuine filter "kit" from dealers.
Part number "SAS1055" and has the filter and all the o-rings in it.
RRP is $144 and trade is $110.

That appears to be just the 42072-AG140 and o-rings. No sock filter.

I can understand this with the older model's filters being in the engine bay, but with the later model's filters being in the tank & before the fuel lines, is it still recommended?
Could we therefore expect some crap clogging up the injectors in the first few tanks as the lines are after the filter?
Would running Nulon's Total Fuel System cleaner(or similar) for a tank before the new pump install help/alleviate this??
