Hey guys,

Last night while driving home my CEL came on with the cruise control light flashing. My SI drive is also stuck on S. do I necessarily have to go to the dealership to get this checked out or can I just go to my normal mech as I don't get my car serviced at dealerships anymore (rip off). Also , would it be harmful to drive the car any further ? I have checked the fluid levels and car seems to be running quite ok .

Do you have an error code on your dash? If not then it's a minor CEL so you should be okay to drive it gently until you can get someone to read the code properly.

Minor CELs also disappear after 5 or 6 restarts so keep this in mind. If it keeps coming back then might something that needs to be further investigated.

Ok, just turned it on this morning, it's idling a little high on the rpms and fuel economy seemed a little worse last night

I am located at glen Waverley in Victoria. I have restarted it a few time, probably about 4 or 5 , still there

No error on dash

Give it time to warm up, it's a cold start remember

If it doesn't clear over the next few restarts then take it to your mechanic and ask him to pull the code for you.

Alternatively, you might want to ask some of the Melb members if they're local to you as they'll be able to check the code for you. Maybe try PMing Bruce (bass_straitener).

I should be able to scan the code for you and reset the ECU, if safe to get you back in business.

I know it's an old thread but my car is doing the same this morning.
Iv just changed the plug and flashing cruise control light etc.
