So i own a 3rb and filled it up the otherday, and have only driven in town since, normally combined my car sits at 11.8-12L but in town it's sitting at 15L or more! im not as 'smooth' as i could be but im certainely not gunning it at every intersection, does anyone else have a similar fuel consumption??, i mean come on there are people with 6.0L v8's laughing at my fuel usage

From your post I can assume that it is a bad batch of fuel.
Go to another servo and fill it up with 98 right now to dilute the bad fuel.

Otherwise clean your MAF and air filter

It's 98 octane from a woolies servo where i always get it if thats anything to go by??,I shall check the air filter tomorrow now you have mentioned it, havent cleaned the maf yet, any particular brand of cleaner you recommend? and where would i get it from? thanks

CFC Maf Cleaner / contact cleaner from Auotbarn / Supercheap / wherever.
For those who do not know, MAF is located on the airbox. Unplug the MAF connector, undo the 2 screws on the MAF and pull out the MAF. Spray the MAF itself (the little bulb) and then inside the hole of the black plastic part. Give it a good spray and it's ready to go. the maf cleaner seems to be alcohol based so it will evaporate almost instantly. You can drive your car 2 mins after doing a MAF clean no problems. Just do not touch the MAF sensor itself with your hands or anything else.

Also it doesn't matter if you get your fuel from the same servo. I used to work at a servo/mechanics and you have no fucking idea how easy it is for water to get in to the fuel tanks below the ground. At the place I worked at the funnels were not locked at all so you could literally pour water down them all night and nobody would know until peoples cars started running like shit a few days later.

For a H6 that is normal. They use a lot more fuel then a 2.5T.

My ave is 9.2l/100 driving to work. Driving around town it is very easy to have it sit around 14-15

The very worst I got out of my 3RB was 16L /100 that was with 4 people in the car and a 1400kg boat on the back

i just averaged 8 on a highway trip, usually around 11-12 combined and 13-14 for city only

That's a LOT of fuel, I have NEVER seen my 3.0 have a tank average of that kind of figure

1. MAF needs to be checked so you can be sure its clean
2. Engine oil, my car's fuel economy declines once I get past 6500kms, a fresh oil change and back to 9.2 liter per hundred - down from 10.6. Everytime!
3. Sparkplugs ok?
4. Tyre pressure - make sure its right up at the recommended pressure and check it every month. This one can make a big difference too!

I look to get 9.2 combined - easy driving style

If highway only - I will be looking for low to mid 8's per 100km

If really flogg the hell out of it, maybe 13 -14 liters per hundred

If memory serves me correct the ( little bulb ) ? is not the MAF sensor itself but the 2 element type thermo resistors if thats what they really are?

I believe the light bulb you talk about is the actual intake temp sensor?

I believe the light bulb you talk about is the actual temp sensor? I could be wrong here.....

The little bulb is what gets the voltage to maintain a temperature isnt it?
