stock tune?

Postby chanham » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:23 am

Hi all,

Is there such thing as a stock tune? I'm not looking to gain any extra hp or torque, but to make sure the engine is running at its maximum stock potential. Its pushing 140ks...ive already done the little things like upper head cleaner, services etc...

I'm located in Perth if there's any shops to recommend.

Cheers

I tuned my stock 2.5i via XRT and it's oodles better than it was before.

The stock tune from factory assumes safe operation from the coldest areas in the country to the hottest. From the driest to the most humid. Subaru have no idea where your car is going to go and what conditions it will have to endure, so they play it safe.

As a result, there's a lot of untapped power locked away. When tuned to suit your local atmospheric conditions, the car becomes immensely more drivable and fun, and generally you'll get a side bonus of better fuel effeciency too.

Any tune - stock or modified, is highly recommended!

Nearly 12 months on and absolutely no issues.

The type of dollars I paid were Australian Dollars. ;)

Price will vary on what you want and how much work needs to be done. For example, my car does not have SI Drive, so only one map needed to be tuned. SI Drive requires more maps to be tuned.

My tune cost me $600, but there are other costs to consider on top of that - the cost of petrol consumed during tuning, the cost of a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 cable to allow you to connect your laptop to the car, etc.

Tuning continues until both parties are happy and any future updates to that tune, eg: for new physcial engine modifications, are only about $75 each re-tune (not per mod).

Obviously prices are subject to change. Post a query to west_minist (Edward) and he'll be happy to provide you answers to questions about his business. He's a friendly bloke.
