Just has ER HC an the traction control light is on and stays on even if a press the TC button off and on. Anyone know what this means?

From what I have read, the problem should clear itself after a bit of driving. Something may have come loose. I would try an ECU reset also.
If it persists take it to Subaru.

Tim,

This seems to be potentially related to several things, but mainly the P0600 code to do with the serial communications buss (CAN Buss) which is used for communication between most of the Control Units (Engine, Transmission, Body) and it depends what aftermarket mods have been done or even recent servicing:

1. Have the battery checked for correct operating voltage
2. Have alternator checked for correct operating voltage
3. Have all the connectors on all Control Units checked for correct fitment
4. Whatever your last mod was, undo the mod and check again.
5. If that did not work, undo the 2nd to last mod and check again.

Can I ask if your vehicle has a HID headlight mod done? If so, can you provide the part number and manufacturer details of the ballast unit? Just a hunch that I want to follow but no need for concern.

MH,
Thanks for the info! The last thing I had done to the car was a wheel alignment (weekend just gone) don't think it would be that and probably 2-3 weeks ago I had the xcarlink iPod unit installed which didn't work so was uninstalled. Other than that there is the grill which I don't think is the cause.
Car is stock other than the above.

I called Subaru and they said they would have to hook up a laptop to find out what's going on. I don't mind if somthing has to be replaced as its probably 3-4 weeks old from a dealership and they will/should be paying for it.
Think it's worth getting it checked out? It's intermittent so it might not be giving the error when it's at the workshop.

Tim,

Definitely worth getting the error code recorded and note any others as well. The error codes are normally stored within the ECU until cleared during service or ECU reset.

if a light has come on the code is stored in the history until the ecu is reset so they can see what has happened even if it isnt still occuring

Hi Tim,

And the result????

Must be infectious! Mine just pulled a P0031 error and I am now up for a replacement Front O2 (A/F) Sensor. Booked in for tomorrow.
