I recently drove from Sydney to Brisbane and back.

I achieved 8.47 L/100 km and then 9.85 L/100 Km. The later figure however included suburban driving around Brisbane. I always use 98 octane.

I just serviced the car and had the air filter replaced, so hopefully future results will be slightly improved.

I've now done just over 250,000 on my 3.0R (Sept 04 build) and still get over 700km from a tank on freeway runs.
Worst I've had was about 400kms from Delegate to Robost...

Funnily enough I don't get any better kms from 98 over 95 fuel.

While I do have an occassional 'fang' I can't afford fines so stick to speed limits most of the time using GPS as my speedo is a bit optimistic showing abt 117 at 110.

Other benefits of so much freeway is long break pad life. I'm just replacing mine now and the last time they were replaced were at 110,000 when replaced under warranty due to warped disks all round.

Picking between an 08 auto B Spec vs an 08 Heritage manual this week.

How much improvement does 'i' mode have over the sports modes ?

My daily driving is 80klms with no traffic lights and mostly 80/90/100 zones. Perhaps this may make it reasonably economical compared to those doing city driving.

Cheers

10.2/l per 100 highway fully loaded to the hill with luggage and kids..

filled up with 98 E10 ...felt like it had a bit more punch to be honest.

True. You can still get some savings how lean. But either way, you can't have your cake and not eat it.

I don't think I have tuned you, but i have seen some cars that were suppose to be tuned and was hardly touch.

If you are well over 60,000km, get your AFR Sensors replace.

I have the XTR tune in my Liberty H6 3.0 manual, currently hex V3B (to suit my vehicle)

I have just completed a full tank of mostly short trip driving -100% use of airconditioning - live in hot place

I had a tank average of 9.0 liters/ 100km on 95 octane BP

YES, I am very pleased with that fuel economy result for stop/start driving and the vehicle drives smooth as glass in the very low speed range - a great pleasure to drive compared with stock tune which is just annoying to say the least at anything below 3000rpm

My tune requests to XTR is like this -

I am focusing strongly on economy in the non power part of the RPM band (1000 - 4000rpm) to get best results for A to B driving which does not require extra fuel to get the job done. Then from 4000rpm - 7500rpm I want nuclear power with high fuel burn and agressive ignition timing.

Ok. Lol. Here are some valid tips/jokes :)

When moving off, slight throttle and increase slowly. Ignore the horns at you :)

When overtaking, do so gradually, but careful not to take too much time in doing so, if incomign traffic.

When slowing down, do so gradually. That means start braking from a distance. Forgive the horns at you :)

Doing these little things help.

Ohhhh, last but not least, if you hard use the other seats and so forth, take them out and put them in storage. There just add weight :)

Your other good option to reduce weekly fuel consumption

Just leave your vehicle in the garage

It would make Julia Gillard very happy too, less of the polluting carbon substance :?

I can barely manage over 300km/tank with sensible city driving, never rev pass 6500rpm

Somethings is wrong with my 3.0R, considering what other owners are achieving in this forum

this worries me

Have you had it tuned?

Servicing up to date?

Has the airflow meter been cleaned?
