3.0 RB normal engine noise

Tested a 2009 3RB with only 15,500 kms. Full service history with services done every 6 months at Subaru Docklands.The car is mint.
I noticed the engine makes a slight whine that rises with the revs. It's not loud but I could still hear it above the STI quads. The whine was present from a cold start up and also at normal operating temp.
Is this normal for the 3RB? Does it just need more break in time?

The whine comes from the front of the engine. I believe it is normal as it is the cam timing chain tensioners. It sounds like a supercharger whine. It usually gets a bit louder when nearing an oil change. If the noise is intrusive you probably need to change the rear mufflers and upgrade your sound system.

It's a mild whine like a supercharger in the background - I kinda like it and just wanted to rule out any possible ticking time bombs.
I vaguely recall when leafing through the service books that the car's due now for a service so that might explain it.
Thanks for the advice, no apparent deal breakers then, let the negotiations begin...

My car makes a similar noise and always has, although it isn't very loud.

It mat be a bit early @ 15k but check the power steering pump.

Hey guys,
Just bought a liberty-always wanted one since I was a kid. This may be a silly question but does that go for the 3.0R as well? Did not notice the wine (very slight under throttle) when I was test driving. Can def's hear it driving on my own. Sorry guys I know this an old question but it's got warranty so if there is anything I should be doing I should do it now.. Going to check tranny fluid today.

All h6 will whine to what extent depends on each engine and conditions like oil wear etc
Timing chains running on gears and chain guides personally I love it haha

My does the same too and I thought I had a supercharger or something!
