Interest in Quaife Centerdifferential for 6MT

Hello,
after installing a Quaife LSD in front and rear now i´m looking for a better solution for the center diff.
I asked the guys from Quaife and they could offer it, if 10 diffs will be build, for a price of 750£ (without shipping).
Is anyone in this forum interested in a Quaife centerdiff? The partnumbers are 38913AA111 and 38913AA112 and also fits to the 2.0l WRX STi without DCCD.

I could be possible interested , pending final price delivered to melb, although I am considering the Cusco Tarmac center with the 35/65 ratio. Really want to hear how the quaife center drives and feels.

@Gambit
It depends on what you like to have. Your Cusco tarmac is very rear biased and it is a open diff without any lock - very sporty and not for daily driving and just for dry tarmac - no gravel or rainy street or maybe snow ;) -> massive oversteering.
The Quaife one will give the power to the end of the car with more grip. The old school Lancia Delta Integrale had one and the original Quattro from Audi was a Torsen. It will be easier to drive and will give you a unbeatable acceleration.
PPG makes a torsen center for the 5MT from the WRX, maybe someone knows anyone who has one installed.

For the australian market PPG http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/page.asp?categoryid=14 will be a choice too?
They make a 5MT torsen center diff, costs 1980 AUD. Maybe someone can ask if they could do one for the 6MT?

@Gambit
If you realy go for the Cusco tarmac center diff, please make sure that you have real LSD in front AND rear. Without that it will be undrivable, because you will have 3 open diffs, so if just one wheel spins - no power available.

What a load of shit. They drive fine with open diffs, and when a wheel spins, you just back off and on again. Assuming all wheels are on the ground like in 99.99999999% of driving there is no issue. Driven unpowered gen2 DCCD with open front and a thoroughly rooted rear viscous and it was just like any other subaru for all but stabbing it at full lock when it just fried an inside, like every other subaru...except it didnt move forward near as quick :p

But, having a plated rear and torsen or plated front will be a thousand times better.

@kiks
"...thousand times better..." that´s what i meant - under bad conditions and/or hard cornering you will wish soon as possible that it would be "thousand times better".
I think, if you like to install a special thing like the tarmac from Cusco you should do it 100%. Driving evryday from home to work and back, i believe you never will feel the difference, so no need for special things.

But ;) - have a look at the thread - i´m looking for guys which are interested in a Quaife center diff and don´t want a discussion about the other stuff.

Fixed for you :wink:

The h6 does some fairly hectic front inside wheel spinning when its an inch and a half off the ground around every corner :lol:

I'm surprised a H6 has enough power to do that. Must be light wheels.

I have a front lsd sitting here in Brisbane in a box, just in case you're interested in putting some of that mighty power to the ground.

I have a collection of plated and helical diffs and a cusco centre siting here brissy too :)
One day I'll be bothered mate, one day.

Edit: wheel lift= roll centre being well above ground datum, with a very small roll bar rate and a very stiff front end, and short shock travel under rebound. Stir all together and heat on high to bake a Subaru tripod.

A short update, i found until today 2 others from legacygt, which are interested in, they know the potential from a torque sensing center diff.
Maybe i should give a short info about the Quaife.
The Quaife diff is torque sensing, so it "feels" the difference between front and rear before a rpm difference between front and rear will happen and give the torque to the end with the option to transfer the most of torque - this will happen dynamicly and instantly with free torque transfer from 25/75 to 75/25 (front/rear).
The original Subaru visco unit have locked a split of 50/50, but to lock the center diff there is a rpm difference between front and rear necessary (the silicon oil needs heat) - so now you can image why you have wheelspin at the front if you start hard... and evry time torque tranfer is needed first there is a rpm difference between front/rear necessary - so the Subaru sysem is a reactive system. The Quaife one is proactive, it "feels" where the torque has to go and so no wheelspin will happen at front (or rear). Maybe now you will know why this would be a great (and best) upgrade or the 6MT without DCCD.
I think with a sc under the bonnet it will play his full potential. But this thing is nothing for someone who like to have a powerslide rear, but it will give you the best stable car and acceleration as possible.
Maybe now some more guys will be interested in this diff.

What would be the total cost include shipping and the lead time on these?
