Quote Check

Postby calis » Tue Oct 18, 2011 12:09 pm

Hey guys, so got a quote on a replacement clutch (exedy HD) and new bushes for the gear lever as its worn out and rattling + labour = $2k!

seems a bit steep on the labour side of things?????

It sounds about right from what people have been charged previously, I could be wrong though.

Clutch change (inclusive) should only be about $600 on top of the purchase price of the clutch.

for $2K, i'd be wanting something nicer than an Exedy...

Can the gear lever bushes from an 07 model be used in the earlier models to remove some lever slop?

A decent workshop should have the box out in 3 hours, clutch changed, fluids changed etc. Back in with a total of 6 hours or so. 80 an hour $480
Clutch kit: $700. Nothing at all wrong with exedy, exedy make the sti twin plate clutches etc (ill report on one when I get it in next month or so).
Decent gearbox oil (ELF/Total that PMS use is amazing in the 6 speeds, or the castrol that mike south uses both are brilliant). $200

Bushes for shifters, just order the shit from Kartboy/TiC/Rallispec.

As food for thought, also get the rear main seal changed. Good time to do so and its only an extra few bolts to undo.

So anywhere from 1500 to 2000 I can see as reasonable.
