Was wondering, if anyone knew if it was possible to turn off the traction control in a MY04/05 3.0R-B?

Manual or auto?
If it's a manual, no because it doesn't have it.
If it's an auto, yes, there should be a button for it.

The auto (3.0R) should have a button near the mirror controls. The manual (3.0R-B) has none just good traction

From memory it's a button to the left of the steering column (opposite side to the mirror controls) - on the 3.0R auto at least.

Mine doesn't have the button...The dealer manual says only on selected models meh

I have an Oct 2004 build MY05 3.0R Premium 5EAT and the Traction Control button is on the lower left behind the steering wheel. It is a push toggle button (large and cannot be missed) and when I do disable TC, a yellow warning light illuminates on the dash (handy reminder). Are you enquiring about a 3.0R-B as I believe they were manual only in 2004 MY05 (At least they were when I purchased mine). Or are you enquiring about the Blitzen (in which case I am not sure).

The traction control system is called VDC by Subaru.

The button would have a skidding car symbol.

What you are referring to is stability control, not traction control.

nope, traction cuts engine power if one or more wheels are spinning faster than the others, so it can match speeds and give constant acceleration. stability aids in a slide/drift/oversteer or even understeer where it will brake individual wheels to correct the slide. and reduce throttle input if needed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCRLKRluk1w
