what intake are you boys got on the 3.0R-B?

Postby libz05 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:53 pm

hey guys,
currently own a stock my06 Subaru liberty 3.0R-B. and looking to get a cold intake system?
would be helpful to see what all the other 3.0R-B people are using?
i hear the HKS panel filter maybe a good move.

hot air intake by garrett is fairly good. Anything else is a waste of time.

this is the first time i have tried to post pics so im not sure if it will work :S

i dont have one of the pipe from the fog light area but it was just 2" pvc pipe from bunnings hahaha

i think i used one or maybe two 90 degree bends and a 45 and some straight of course then i used a 2" to 2.5" (i think it was) reducer and taped up the outside to fit the hole where the resonator used to be.

Brad, any difference in throttle response (better or worse) without the chamber in there

Don;t want to build a few of them do you..?

personally i think it has made a huge difference,

it does get a little hot (the pipe) but still i think it was one of the best things iv done, and plus you can hear the engine growl after about 5000rpm or so :D

on making more, im not too sure i was considering it but i dont have a tig of my own, i borrowed a mates and i dont think he would be to happy if i keep borrowing his and using all his gas hahah

but it could be a possibility, i would need a decent amount of people to buy them but

Look great although, wouldn't it be better out of silicone as that metal would conduct alot of heat?

yeh it wouldn't conduct heat if it was made out of silicone but it would of been to hard to get one made because i would have had to get it custom,so i just went and bought the stainless for this and welded it up.:)

Dont want that heat sapping 3hp, that'd seriously see a stock camry pull ahead by even more.

not really an issue.
the air moves damn quick through the pipe and has little time to transferr heat, especially with smooth internal walls.

the stock rubber pipe would get just as hot
