Silicone Intake for EZ30

Postby Robbks » Fri Mar 11, 2011 10:52 am

I know there's already threads regarding the intake but in my search for a smoother, post AFM intake on the RB, it may necessitate a custom piece being made.

The pipe is the rubber one between the AFM Housing and the Intake Chamber which has flexible rubber bellows (not good for airflow).

The OzFoz guys have been having custom silicone bits made for a number of years and i may be able to piggyback these onto a current group-buy or new order.
however we would probably need an order of 30 units to make it feasible due to new tooling/ design, etc

the quality is excellent (LogPro is the brand on them, made in the US)
5-ply re-inforced silicone
usually a choice of three colours, red, blue and black, but i like black anyway

Anyone interested?
Price would probably be around the $80-$100 mark (including 'Norma' S/S hose clamps)

Forgive my ignorance, but is this going to boost performance through cleaner air flow or is it just a cosmetic mod?

What he said. What is the real world impact likely to be?

real world impact won't be much
much like removing the intake resonator.

Also, this is only a replacement for the rubber pipe, not the intake chamber. i'm having other thoughts about that one in the future..!

more of a case of every little bit adds up.
and rubber in an engine bay that gets old and hot can go hard and crack.
plus it adds a little bit of smoothness to the airflow, by deleting the bellows. but the silicone still allows for movement of the engine without putting excess stress on the parts

also the image above is actually a radiator hose, but just to illustrate the thickness of the silicone

+1 in black
I would love one, I have been looking into removing the large intake box just behind the throttle gody too. But this is a nice start.

Cheers
