Lets stick a fork in the arguing and agree that they are both great cars. They can both be made fast. And as i said in my original post, if you love your 3.0 then stick with it.... i had a 2.5i liberty before this one and loved it to death. Its not always about what the fastest is.
But as we've all said, go and try another GT just to be sure the last one wasnt a dud. On paper the GT should be quicker but you may not like the delivery of power.
Look i never wanted to argue with anyone, but being a forum people like to rustle feathers and some times you can't even have a decent discussion without a keyboard warrior giving they're 2 cents thats why sometimes you have to dish it up as well, and as you can see its been me agains everyone this whole thread lol. i agree they are both amazing cars, they both have pros and cons. i love the power delivery of a turbo i wanted/maybe still want a GT thats why i started the thread after being so disappointed. but since everyone had come to the GT's defence i'm sure i must have tested a shit one, after all it had done 120000k's.
I've bean reading this forum for years now and only became a member recently since everyone seemed friendly enough and people were free to discuss opinions. But looks like thats not the case.
and for everyone thinking i'm at school, I don't think registered builders need to go to school.
SIMBAT - I totally agree that this thread has gone off topic. If you really want to understand why, you might want to go back to the first page at look at approx the 15th post.
Up until then, this was a group of members exchanging different views on the traditional GT v's 3.0R debate - going on since 2005....when some of us made the wrong choice....
In the early stages of the post its simply a new member posting their experience of a GT compared to their 3.0R.
Forum members start responding to this providing advice, expressing views, etc......they may have been covering the basics, but remember you look like a brand new punter......
You then start posting about all your experience / knowledge and eventually you come back to Kieran with this:
"whatever you say

"
Maybe you think people are being condescending......but whatever the trigger, a flick has switched and the crazy SIMBAT comes out......
At that point, you'll note that people's responses start changing - members might now be thinking of you as a "know it all", "bragger", "name dropper"......maybe even a "smart arse"
Who knows, maybe your purpose is just to damage the impeccable credibility of the precious LGT......
People who own 3.0Rs can't reconcile your story.....their cars are all S L O W....
Some of our members have personal car, modifying, etc experience (eg. Matt, Mick and others) probably exceeding any of your expectations.
They start clarifying points and poking holes in your statements.......and thats when we all descend into chaos
Members of this forum are usually genuine and helpful ... feel free to
benefit from their perspective / experience - difference of opinion is what make forums good value (otherwise it would be 1 post and 100 "I agrees").
Don't be discouraged by one thread ...... and maybe think about how we got here.
P.S. 1) the reason we all polish Matt's balls is so that his turbo spools faster.....
2) if you turbo charge a 3.0R it becomes a GT
