With tim headers, I was adding timing to the map up to the new redline. Every rom release had 1degree addition. When tim is happy with what he has, we will see the final product. I believe these are research headers and a lot of testing is needed. Kudo's to Raptor.

Tim, you should work on those cats first :) There maybe causing an effect :)

It is entirely possible the earliest customers could have a set in hand in around 2-3 weeks time. That is both for mild steel and stainless steel

I have shown the other design listed yesterday by Kleinerbastler to the exhaust technician and we are likely to alter the collector to be the same, HOWEVER it has a greater risk of leaking where you see the spot welds. We need to make a decision about fully welding those joints versus spot welding

Really hoping that XFORCE DO make them as in the other thread but for now the product shown wont fit any 3.0 on the planet

So we will continue until either they do or we are in full production. If that occurs we will offer 2 types of material which I am 99% sure no other manufacturer will bother with, but it will give cost savings for those on tight budget.

Tim

i wouldn´t disturb the process of development ;) .
I think the fully welding seems to be a good way.
I don´t know if the pic from the Tommy header is the end result or just a milestone, i don´t have any other pics.

Just out of interest, I have had extractors on a car where the primaries weren't welded into the collector at all. They were left like that because the only way to get them on or off without removing the engine was to actually dismantle them. They are made so that the primary slips inside the collector, with the logic being that the primary pipe will get hotter and so expand more, making it a tight fit inside the collector. Perhaps surprisingly, they didn't leak at all, but it also wasn't a road car.

Yes, its a risk of sorts but not a certainty they would leak. Will see if we can make then mostly or fully welded

In the far distant past Ford had a Y Block V8 engine and they joined both exhaust banks together with a slip flange like we are talking about, worked flawlessly too. They used it on cars and trucks alike

I have just called XFORCE head office in Sydney enquiring about XFORCE extractors for H6 3.0. Anyone seeking to buy such a thing from them is in for a very long wait!

I was politely informed that there is no such product - only cat back, I will add their customer service was 1st class.

Therefore, Tradewind will continue as before with extractor manufacture for H6 3.0, the only specialised manufacturer of headers for the H6 engine globally and some checking of performance of the produced item!

@Tradewind
Maybe you can ask http://www.amworks.com/eng/index.htm (they have done the Tommi header) for the experiences they have done with theirs kind of headers.

Simon,

Tim has done a lot for the development of the 3.0R engine. No one else globally that I am aware of is doing the sort of development that Tim is doing. I spent 4 to 5 years waiting for some one like Tim to turn up in Australia, so I think we need to encourage him. 3 to 4 weeks is not long to wait for a unique item at the price level you have been quoted. Even if it turns out to be 3 to 4 months, you still get a great item at a great price when you consider the alternative (Japan, $4K). So patience is the key my friend.... :)
