^ thanks matt!!
Im guessing hes going to have a reason why 20k under the hood is a fair price and your experience is wrong haha

I got very off topic though. Yes a smallish 4wd car like a liberty will beat a big car on a tight circuit. But on a bigger track or drag strip youd have no chance. So I guess using motorkana as your basis isnt fair as its only 1 type of racing.

Newmate: the vf46 is a fairly subdued turbo. All over by 5500 as people have said. That being said the gt you drove sounds like it had issues. Stock GTs go quite well.

as i said previously, it possibly was just a bad one, it got sold the next day so someone liked it.

It's quite sad how this topic has changed from what it was intended on, first we had some smart ass telling me if i changed at 6grand on the test drive it would be quicker, everyone here is so full of irrelevant bullshit. Also looks like no understands how much slower hsv's are then our cars in motorkana events. Last year i was beating any HSV and FPV by 2 seconds on the haunted hills hill-climb track(dry), and that was with a NA EJ25i 2002 Liberty RX Manual, But I was half a second slower then a 2004 WRX wagon. numbers don't mean anything unless your on the drag strip.

$400 per pushrod? Wolverine Adamantium material?
http://www.speedinc.com/shop-by-vehicle ... -sets.html
Pushrod pricing from some of the best in the business...

I can do pushrods in an LS3 in under 2 hours. Remove rocker covers, remove rockers, remove pushrods, intall new pushrods, fit rocker cover. To put that into perspective I could fit a cam, valvesprings, roller rockers and pushrods in under 7 hours with engine in the car and less out of the car :)

I bought an entire LS3 416ci stroker delivered to my door with an E85 2000Hp crank horsepower rating with WARRANTY for under $10K from the same company in the USA :)

From memory they were made of cubic zirconium actully.

He was telling everyone he had spent no less then 20K... I don't see him as a bullshitter if you can do it for cheaper, good for you you must be a very reasonably priced tuna. Though you forgot to mention how much you would charge for all the other work i mentioned the hours alone working on it cost so much. Stop trying to prove me wrong, you can't and the work on the HSV is irrelevant to this forum besides the fact my stock 3.0R beat him in Motorkana events... but do go on please tell me more

Just pointing out what a waste of $20k and that is regardless of who fitted the parts of tuned it for just a basic engine build
Image
As you can see, quite a simple job to fit new Pushrods

Dont think I am trying to prove you wrong, just pointing out facts to let you hopefully form your own opinion on how accurate the data is and from experience, I know a few who spend big $$ on their cars and dont drive them at even 50% of their capabilities purely as they are afraid of things going wrong like spinning off the track etc. I know an Excel Sprint that was caned to within an inch of its life, thrown through corners on 2 wheels... set fast times because if he rolled it, he was $800 out of pocket. Look at the Excel Racing Series at Lakeside!

The full list of mods were custom air intake, billet manifold, cams, pushrods, new crank shaft and pistons plus a proper tune. so hows about you stop focusing on the easy stuff. The engine was basically blue printed so stop acting like 20K is an impossible number to be spent on such a big engine..

Whats that got to do with anything? Are you proposing he wasn't trying he's best? He is rich as, has 6 cars 2 of them full targa rally spec and the event was at holden's top secret proving grounds in lang lang where we were on the hugest skid-pan i've been on look it up on google maps. Had not a single care about his car and he told me to my face he was giving all he had because he wanted to beat my time. I know all about the Excel racing series... not for me, id get bored too quick.

Lang Lang is not exactly Top Secret, I have been there atleast 8 or 9 times and that explains a lot. Lang Lang is delibrately setup by Holden to be unfriendly on a RWD car, since it is a testing ground for a Commodore testing real world off camber corners etc. We put an 05 Astra SRi 2.2L FWD sh!tbox around faster than an SV6000 driven by a guy that knows Lang Lang better than anyone

So now that we have gone so far off the thread topic...
Intake/Diff back Exhaust modified LGT should be about on par with a Intake/Diff back Exhaust modified LGT
Fit a DP to the LGT and it is game over.

Pushrods in this day and age? Really? Do they still use live rear axles and drum brakes as well?

Sorry I can't help too much with the comparison. The GT Spec B I've just bought is a stock JDM BP5F and completely spanks the 3.0 Outback I had in Australia. Both are autos, although the Outback did have the V-Tune(DBW remapped), and the JDM Legacy (2.0L, VF45, Dual AVCS and 102 fuel) packs a slightly different punch to the Aust 2.5. Still, the turbo pulls hard from 2500ish but is out of puff around 6000 so not really much point in continuing to stress the engine even though redline is 7500. I can tell you the 3.0 doesn't have much above 6700 though. It'll keep revving but power levels out until redline on a stock engine. That's the basic difference between NA and turbo. Smaller cap engines with turbos will make power lower in the rev range whereas a larger cap NA engine needs revs to produce the same power. To get a NA EJ25 to make 180kw you'd be revving the thing to nearly 15000. Now I'd like to see an EJ25 do that. Even built it's just not going to happen.

No one can just go in there unless you are part of an approved event, Upon entry phones and cameras were confiscated so we couldn't sneak pic's of the then unreleased VF or the facility and we had to sign a legally bound contract to promise not to "kiss and tell"(hence top secret)... it is not delibrately setup by Holden to be unfriendly on a RWD car, its designed to be unfriendly on any car... they test everything there not just the commodores... which is beside the point anyway because we were only on the FLAT skidpan so there was no bias for drive types...YOU keep on changing the topic sir you have changed it so much your not even on the topic when you think you've got back to the original topic... the original topic was only for the opinions of individuals who have driven both STOCK GT's and 3.0R's ....

-NOT WHEN TO CHANGE GEAR (valve bounce for life)
-NOT HOW LITTLE $ IT TAKES TO MAKE A GT FASTER (we can all cheat but the meaning of stock is unmodified)

-NOT TO TAKE ADVICE FROM AN AUTO DRIVER ON WHEN TO CHANGE GEARS      "i change manually" LMFAO

Odd... I have photos of myself at Lang Lang from when the HSZ Z series was released(before the public saw it) but then it was a work function for ACP Magazines. That bit about the RWD anti-bias of the actual track is exactly what Skaife told us. Anyone here in an AWD car ever lost to a RWD car on a skid pan? If so, hand in your licence

You told us you were there for a hill climb... no mention of Lang lang previously.
You said your car is modified... put it back to stock, let it ping its head off trying to beat a stock LGT. Stock H6 on the dyno is lucky to put down 100Kw@wheels in stock form yet a LGT puts down 120 or more in stock form

LOL. I have driven plenty of stock GT's and stock H6's... also been a passenger in plenty of them as well as quite a few members here can attest. I think it was mentioned a while back... Stock LGT is quicker than a mechanically stock H6.

Oh my bad - i thought the point of when to change gears was raised by you to justify your erroneous claim that a stock h6 makes power beyond 6000rpm.

From that perspective, changing gears in manual mode on a tiptronic or manual trans would achieve the same thing.

But since you're all wise and knowledgable, I bet you already knew that

Is it school holidays already?

Sorry to confuse you, the hillclimb was at haunted hills(i'm sure you know where that is) and that was when i had my RX pictured im my avatar. that had coilovers, swaybars, and brake upgrades.

And the Lang Lang event was with the GTS, and that was when i just got my 3.0R its was 100% stock(still is stock i bolt on and off the mufflers when i please). We also has HSV club Photographers at our event but they had to register and sign a confidentiality form. Lang Lang is considered top secret stop bullshitting they even use it in there commercials... and when i was there the manager was telling stories for photographers in camo gear hiding in the bushes.

Thanks for finally giving relevant input to the topic, If thats your "experienced" opinion i will deduce the GT i drove may have had problems since it felt so much slower then my car. i will look t test drive another one day.
