Hmmm

I will have to check - a coincidence at the least

Your shipping ........... IS AUD$228 if you want the goods with fastest service. There could be a $20 saving with a slower service

One last question before I head to bed.

Tradewind, I am slightly confused about the cats part. I might be wrong here but I believe the 2008+ legacy comes catless, will this affect the fitment of the extractor?

Kodax

OK thats hard to believe

Either way, it will not affect the fitment as our item goes in before the cats in any case, cats or no cats - no difference to the header

If you have an underside pic of your car pls post it

Maybe the turbo boys have it catless, I am not sure about that.

Anyway I will try to get a picture of the underside of the car the next time it goes into the shop (which should be sometime soon).

2x100 cel cats, 2 into 1 ypipe(deleting 3rd cat) + fitment (including fitment of supplied headers). Quoted $750. Ripped off ? Or decent price? Or any other opinions of course...

I think that sounds okay, as long as the cats are good quality.

They are Loboka cats and they are good. I had the engine light come on about 2 weeks after they were fitted, but Edward of XTR adjusted the rom to get rid of the light problem. Edward is really good, after he has finished the tune, he seems happy to make extra adjustments without asking for more money.

Tim, question
Any chance on selling these as two versions?
the bare bones extractors as they are and a complete front-pipe section

I.e
2x headers L+R
2x Highflow cats and pipework with o2 bungs in position (something like the 200CPI metal substrate, Redback units)
and the 2>1 y-pipe that bolts to the middle section

Just thinking a complete bolt-on upgrade solution would be well received for a lot of us.
that way it can be bolted on or off a stock centre and rear
or aftermarket cat-back systems can be bolted in.

A lot of us are more than capable of DIY when it's bolt-on and bolt off, but throw in the need for a hoist and welding gear puts DIy out of teh reach of a lot of us.
And i hate paying people to work on my car.
I'm more than happy to pay a premium on parts that will save me on labour. plus i like doing my own mods

A rough costing in my mind would be in the ballpark of $1500 for a complete solution
just looking at retail prices (and the painted steel headers)
2x Headers ~800
2x CAT's (as above) $300-$400
4x Bungs ($40)
Flages and pipework $200

thoughts?

Robbks

It is true that we could do it like you suggest

I had the following things in mind initially:

1. Shipping costs/box size, it becomes a LOT more expensive and harder to package once cats are added, plus damage to cats may be a slight risk too

2.catalytic converters are like turbochargers, everyone wants something different to what you offer and I really dont want to be held to warranty issues and possible CEL issues that could come with some aftermarket cats, no matter how good

3. An exhaust shop should be trusted to make a leak free fitment of the pipes, ensuring that there is no risk to the vehicle, it also gives you a local point to go back to if they havent done it right. 95% of DIY people are equal to most shops at bolting something on but I didnt want to take the risk of the useless 5% bringing problems onto themselves/us. Having the fitment completed by an exhaust technician gives everyone peace of mind.

There are other factors in why I have done things the way I have, but thats the most important points

the problem is the CAT's are integrated into the factory headers
so they would need to come off to be modified and have flanges fitted or cats welded anyway.

this is very true, and would defeat the purpose.

i like your idea tho, have it as a complete package :D

At the moment I do sell a complete modular exhaust for the Toyota Hilux. From engine to bumper bar, cats, headers, mufflers and the whole caboodle

Its around $2100

I would think the Liberty complete system could end up similar in price ...........
