Gen3 and Gen4 are more than capable on the track. although fuggin heavy.
My outback keeps up with wrx's around winton and sandown. with only 128atw.
Chopped everything but a stripped 1000kg RA at the Deca khana last weekend.

1000Kg only wow! Yeah ya did well to come second to that  well done!
Yeah Gen 4s are inherently heavy and specced up Gen 3s can be heavy too. Taking out the rear seats in the Gen4s saves quite alot of weight and of course removing excess carpetry, spare wheels and tool kits and the like makes significant defferences on track days too.

the front passenger seat from a MY06 (non electric though) wouldn't be anymore than 10kg after lifting one in and out of a wagon a couple of weekends ago. I'd guess by pulling all of the seats and whatnot out you'd maybe pull in the order of 100kg out of the car

thats still a significant weight reduction on a track and at 10/10ths it'd make a tangeable difference. The electric motors weigh quite a bit in the electric seats though. I wonder how much the rear seats weigh. I'll weigh them and post up the results.

I know I'm months late following this up, but this depends upon what's burning under the bonnet....

Note, all the white powder you can see over the engine and on the ground came from my 1kg extinguisher. The fire brigade only dumped some sand on the oil when they arrived..

I'm sure that cab belonged to a taxi company. He would just have been a driver who'd be issued another car.

As I have said earlier on in this forum the damage caused to my car from the fire was thankfully minimal and only damaged a single wiring loom which was easily replaced. Since then I've ceramic coated and heat wrapped the exhaust compoents responsible. Deapite this and the huge cooling effects of the hood scoop, I have also fitted two large dry powder fire extinguishers up front just in case.
However, I've heard that dry powder fire extinguishers can be quite corrosive - recently I looking at the back of the engine to check for disimilarities between the EZ36R and the EZ30R in prep for the upcoming transplant and I noticed traces of what this powder can do if left to fester long enough. General advice is to power hose it off as soon as the fire is extinguished.
What about CO2 extinguishers - I'd imagine they would be significantly less corrosive, if at all and equally effective and safe against electrical fires. Weight and cost would be the only issues I'd imagine. Does anyone know anymore about this?
