HELP!

Posts specific to the 3.0 litre NA H6 engine

Postby Woodduck » Sun May 24, 2009 7:20 pm

I wouldnt say common, i think we are the only three on here that its happened too..and im pretty sure mine was just bad fuel...

Its prolly worth trying some different fuel, and give it a couple of weeks to get all the fuel out (if it was a bad batch). When i took mine in and they cleared the codes, about a week or two later it did it again, but no where near as bad. Im guessing mobil must have still had the same batch of fuel or there was still a little bit left in my tank? But mine hasnt done it again yet...so dont freak out if it does it a few times, if its bad fuel then it most likly WILL do it again after they clear the error...

Or you could have the same problem as Jay...maybe get your dealer to call Jays dealer..that way if it is the same problem they might replace your engine before you run out of warranty?

If your dealer needs to contact mine, get them to ring Campbeltown, I'm guessing it could just be something simple....fuel....or sensors...I'm pretty sure they haven't replaced too many engines under warranty.

thanks guys, yeah i got my car back today and its is running amazing!! best it ever has. The problem was "small piece of debris in L/variable valve solenoid. And cleared ecu memory. The 1st time i took it in they just cleaned the sensor and reset. This time they inspected future and found that. I highly recommend Boxer Services at Brendale if you live on the Northside of Brisbane. Finger crossed that its all good now.

Luke.

Oh dear! I spoke too soon!
Happened again tonight..BUT- This arvo the tank was pretty much run dry. I put $50 mobil 98 in it...I drove home (15-20ks). I then hadto go back into Mildura, and noticed it didnt start very well...after a few stops and starts it got a bit worse, then started to bunny hop, stall and ping again...but no engine light, and subaru wont touch it untill the engine light comes on.

Now im highly doubting it is a problem with my car. Surly its not a coincidence that all 3 times its happened have been when iv had only/partially mobil 98 fuel in the tank. The times it did it the worst was when i had ONLY mobil fuel in the tank, and the other time that it did it very slightly was when it was a mix of mobil and BP fuel. Im thinking that mobil must get shit fuel every now and then OR every couple of months they decide to put normal fuel in the 98/premium bowser to save costs? Maybe i watch too many current affairs shows
It was just so instant after i put the fuel in....hasto be that...right?

quite possible that particular servo mate. As far as Mobil goes, I haven't had an issue with mine and most of the time it gets refilled, it's at a Mobil servo

My car has been in 3 times in one week to be fixed. Symptoms pingin, rough idol, bunny hopping all the usual. First time Friday ecu reset and vvt solenoid cleaned (all weekend it was good) Monday playing up took it back same again, and booked it in for full engine clean out and all new oil. Wednesday (drove out of the driveway and it was worst it ever been) Now ordered new vvt solenoid from japan. Currently waiting for it to arrive. Its really starting to give me the sh#ts!!

Orite. Its not bad fuel! This happened again :angry2: I took it back to see if it was the same fault code, which it was. BUT it isnt the sensor thats the problem, the sensor is doing its job. Its a blockage in one of the oil lines or filter apparently. It builds up and gets blocked, putting out the timing and tripping one of the sensors. My car is heading for 6 months out of warranty and they are saying they could need the car for a few days! Im thinking, GREAT MORE MONEY! But i had a call today and the local suby dealer has got onto subaru aus and they have agreed to do it under warranty!!! Im not sure if they are paying 100%, or if they are just paying a smaller %, but ANYTHING is better than nothing!

So this is a big thumbs up from subaru australia! Hopfully after this my car will be sorted!!! 8)

MH3.0R- My car is a MY06. Iv got it back from Subaru and they didnt charge me a cent! :D So far so good, but last time it took about 4000ks to come back. Apparently they cleaned out all the oil lines, and removed and disposed of the inline filters because Subaru technical told them they are pointless and are more of a con than a pro! I guess ill just have to wait and see!

Been there and done that.....they told me they found silicone type material in the lines....cleared them but the problem came back.....it's got to be a manufacturing fault on that engine for tha time period they were produced

Tupps- Has your problem come back yet? I might get my dealer to get in contact with your dealer if it hasnt..how many ks have you done since it was fixed?

Jay- Do you know what the new engine was worth? Im just thinking absolute worst case scenario!

this is the start of your problems..

running the tank nearly dry picks up all the crap in your tank.

no wonder it was running like it was...

if you can in the future and i know its not always possible but never run then dry if you can.

the filters have to work overdrive sifting thru the sh.t in the tank and it only takes a particle to
find its way into the injectors or somthing similar and things can start running bad.
