I have confirmed that AUTO and MANUAL cars DEFINITELY have different part numbers for; manifold, frontpipe converter assembly.

I will look at producing headers/extractors for Automatic cars after the 1st of June 2012.

MH - I believe the collector may have a lot to do with the sound, with these headers the pulses are discharged directly down the pipe rather than other H6 designs which see the pulses partially colliding with each other. The sound should be slightly unique, with standard exhaust in place there is ZERO difference out the back

I beg to differ. The quality of the video is dependent on several factors. When you compare these engine sounds next to each other, there are stark similarities in the mid range. Low revs and red line will be somewhat unique, but the mid range where we drive day to day are remarkably similar in my opinion. The last Holden six I owned was a VK Commodore in 1985 with a 202 cubic inch (3.2 litres) and the sound of my Lib when I put the Hitech mufflers on for the 1st time made hauntingly similar sounds under light to moderate throttle conditions. On WOT, the sound is unique and approaching the real Boxer note, but under light throttle, a little disappointing to be back in the 80's.

6 cylinders and single exhaust with roughly equal length headers will give a similar sound. I.e the time between the exhaust pulses and the number of them will be similar between the two sixes.

Someone can probably shed some light on the Porsche exhaust setup.
Are they twin pipes with or without a crossover to twin outlets?
Or are they similar to the turbo subie engines with uel headers into a single pipe that then splits to two outlets?

I'm a borderline arachnophobe and I'm pretty sure I've had nightmares of things looking like that.

P.s. I hereby register my interest for auto headers following confirmation they result in less noise than a Japanese schoolgirl in a tentacle horror film, unlike some other exhaust mods for the 3.0r auto.

I have already confirmed that the headers themselves in combination with a factory standard exhaust produce zero extra or different noise. The car sounds identical to before.

Whatever other "stuff" you add behind is what will generate issues. I made damn well sure of that before I modified the back section lol :D :D

The thing with a Porsche H6 is the end of the tailpipe is probaby only a 1m from the exhaust valve, whereas with Subaru you have 4 meters or more of pipe/mufflers etc.

I believe we are probably in the best position to get an ultimate H6 sound as we have plenty of distance to condition the sound to what is desired

In the following youtube you have a LOT of diffent H6 sounds, most of them pretty ordinary to say the least, there is one ripper tho :D

If you wanna go fully loud a H6 can sound pretty wicked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9h5XaPHFyc

I believe the supercharged H6s will sound pretty mean with right pipe set up as the tone gets a lot more meaty and serious sounding with some boost

MH3.0R wrote:Now, one of my primary motivations to purchase headers would be the sound. Do they produce more of the boxer six sound (Porche like) than a holden straight six sound (really annoying)? Is the sound primarily generated by the primaries and their lengths or the relationship between the primaries? Would there be much more development required to cater for a good sound as well as the performance?

Pics of set ready for shipment to customer in South Australia

Coated in VHT MICA CERAMIC Flat Black - This colour is like a black hole, it absorbs all visible light lol.

Your exhaust fitter has to CUT the exhaust before the catalytic converters to fit the extractors, we supply the flanges, the bolts and flange gaskets

Fitted with the smoothest collectors ever made, heavy duty 10mm flange plates where it bolts to head

Enjoy - this is the REAL deal now

Cranking up production and should have a few more sets for late next week
