Upper Engine Cleaner 3.0

Postby ez30rb » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:03 am

Hey all,

Does anyone know where I can spray the UEC for the H6?

If you have pictures/diagrams that would be helpful, but not necessary

Cheers,
Justin

You just disconnect a rubber hose from the intake chamber, one that allows you to spray a stream of the UEC fairly centrally into the chamber (so that it flows evenly through all cylinders). Look around you'll find one it's different for each engine.

Either the brake booster vacuum hose on the Driver's side (back near the firewall) or the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose on the passenger side (again back near the firewall). Neither in my experience have given me the desired central location (of the intake manifold) for the end of the straw on the spray can. I used the brake vacuum hose port last time and while it was manageable, it was awkward. Will rethink it for next time

Hey Guys,

Is it recommended that this upper head cleaner be used at each service (standard intervals, I think it was 15k kms)?

Just curious as I'm coming up to my next one and if I don't need it then I won't do it, it is worth noting I do a lot of city driving.

Cheers,

TS

It is recommended by Subaru. I know I notice the difference after it is done. Sometimes I'm just lazy/cheap

Def do it every service especially in lots of city driving. Idling and stop/start traffic = lots of carbon deposits. It's only $15 or so a can from memory. I use it more often than every 15,000kms since I service the car every 6 months which is only about 8,000kms each time.

Thanks for that!

The last time I went for the service, I had a massive hangover and answered yes to all questions asked so I could go lie down on the service reception's couch.

Good to know I wasn't being ripped after all.

if your re-routed all the engine breathers into a catch-can, you will remove most of the buildup in the engine NA or turbo.
most of the build-up is on the valve seats, which wont close properly once caked which will exasibating the problem.
NA's will always suffer a little more as they run more cam overlap.

if we ran a water/meth inj system you would never need it.

I just did this to my H6 and didnt get one tiny bit of smoke out the exhaust at all.
The engine was a bit tough to start when I emptied half the can at the start. After that it was fine, even when putting the other half in....

This right?
