K&N Pannel Filter

Hey Guys i am new to the site. I drive a 2006 3.0r-b sedan.

I was just saying hi and also i read that K&N air filters can end up costing me a lot money due to oil forming on a sensor. So i quickly ran out side and reinstalled the stock one. Thanks u guys may of saved me some dollars down the track.

I have already had issues with a sensor and the check engine light was on with a flashing cruise light with similar symptoms as described on here by others. (i haven't had the problem lately touch wood) But i still get a slight rattle while accelerating. Does anyone have any idea what it would be?

Are you using Premium ULP like BP Ultimate ?

I used a K&N panel filter in my WRX and never had a problem with it.

I think you'll find that is more so a problem with the 4cyl turbo engines & over eager punters applying too much oil to the filter.

I also believe that the airflow sensors on the Subarus ca be of different types, depending on the engine. Some are more susceptible to contamination than others. Also, the proximity of the sensor downstream of the air filter can have an impact too.

So many variables! There's many 3.0R-B owners on this forum using K&N without any dramas. But if you want to remove all doubt, get a dry type filter.

I used a K&N panel in some of my older cars with no dramas.

But if I had my time again, knowing what I know now (& just to be overly safe) I'd go for the HKS Hybrid panel... But if you already own the K&N one, don't be worried... Just be careful not to over oil & all will be good

Thanks very much for you advice. Ill go put it back in cause there was a reasonable difference.
