4Gen H6. Auto Jumping Forward when in PARK

Postby Johnsdea » Mon May 15, 2023 12:08 pm

Hello All. I am new member, since February, and appreciate this forum very much. I recently inherited a very clean MY06 H6 wagon (violet grey on ivory, btw) with very low km, but have experienced a very scary malfunction twice. The event was a sudden motor surge and the auto' trans' engaging D even though still in P, even with a foot firmly on the brake (but no handbrake on), resulting in the car jumping forward approx. 2 metres. The first time, it happened to my father in a car park and he was very lucky not to hit anything. The same thing happened to me a month later, but luckily again I was parked on the street with nothing in front of me. I had only just depressed the shifter button but had not yet moved the shifter at all, and I definitely did NOT touch the accelerator - I checked my foot position before removing it. The car is currently with a specialist auto' trans' mechanic. So I should know the problem & the fix in a couple of days and will post again, but QUESTION: has anyone else experienced this or know anything about what may have caused this? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum! :-D

Bloody hell, something like that would frighten the crap out of anybody.
As you say, lucky there was nothing in front of the car to hit when it happened to you & your Father.
