CEL and more :-(

Postby scottb721 » Sat Aug 18, 2012 12:28 pm

The cruise shut off while driving this morning, next thing I see the CEL and Traction lights on steady and the [S] and cruise lights flashing.
Other than seemingly locked in [I] mode and the GB not rev matching on downshift it's running fine.

Stopped in at my local JAX on the way back from soccer but he couldn't get his OBD scanner to communicate with the car. Off to Suby on Monday hopefully if they can slot me in.
Currently have the battery disconnected so will see if that does anything.

If you manage to reset the ECU with the battery disconnected you probably wont find out what caused the CEL. Personally I would prefer to know what caused it rather than just clear it.

It didn't clear it however I would imagine that it would be retained in memory anyway. Whilst watching JAX have a crack it offered to show current and previous codes.

If you have drained the system it won't be retained. That's why if you want to clear your CEL you leave the battery terminal off for a while plus emptying the system out by pressing brake pedal etc..

Well at least the problem is still there for Suby to look at.
Been a pain not having the cruise working today.

Scratch that. Just got back from the shops. Turned the ignition back on to set the date and time and noticed the cruise wasn't flashing. Sure enough the CEL was off also.
Will still take it in and see what is reported.
