Sluggish

Postby Nick3.0R-B » Tue May 31, 2011 11:12 pm

130000kms and the car seems a little sluggish..less torque and seems to be more revy..ive got a service in 2000k's but thinking maybe it needs a tune after that...recently replayed the air filter and never missed a service.

But..i ran out of petrol a couple thousand ago and had to get racv to save me..Possible fuel filter needs replacing?

I'm no expert but if you're sure the trans/clutch isn't slipping I'd be thinking fuel pressure; so fuel filter, the sock on the fuel pump, maybe the pump itself or dirty injectors.

I'm taking a stab in the dark here but if it feels more revvy it might be because it has less torque all through the range and, comparatively speaking, it's dying off less in the top end.

It's very unlikely to be injectors. Fuel filter or the sock on the pump is more likely because when you ran out of fuel it would've picked up all the crud in the bottom of the tank. Try using an octane booster and if you want to throw the cash, get the fuel filter replaced.
Built not bought, it's a way of life.

Running empty on fuel can always cost big bucks as all the residue monsters sitting on the bottom are finally admitted to your fuel pump

Filter/s and pump could all be on the dodgy side of life now

Thanks for the reply guys..used a bottle of Valvaline Fuel Injector Cleaner and gave the car a little more push throughout the petrol cycle..Car is dramatically smoother and is as punchy as ever.
