This has turned into a Hobart based thread. :)

+1

ive beaten my fair share of n/a supras, and even went around a tt supra in the windies because the power just couldn't be put down. save the wasted cash and get the whole 'package' with a Gen 4 3.0r-b :) Then if you have extra cash down the track, turbo it.

Think an RB is the way to go :D

What's a resonable price? There's a couple of 04 GT's down here and they're looking for 20-22k (way too much in my opinion), so i'm guessing the RB's would be a notch above that.

Speak to Rob about buying interstate, i am yet to do that, i found mine in lonnie. :)

But just a quick search on the net found this, http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=1&R=10711613&keywords=&trecs=218&__sid=130478474DB0&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=1&__Nne=15&SearchAction=N&seot=1&__N=834%201216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294963605%204294963801%20245&silo=1011

Depends if you want sedan or wagon? and manual or auto. The RB gets the 6 speed too, which is a bit of a bonus.

look to budget ~$1000 for transport from NSW, $800 from vic and arrive at teh depot in Hobart
or fly over drive back for half the price

Early GT's aren't really worth too much now.
a 2.0T with weak ass 5speed has got nothing on the later 2.5's and 6speed
20-23K will get you a very good 3RB on the mainland
$25K+ for a 2.5 GT with 6speed and then add more for the GT SpecB

I'm really liking the sound of the manual 3.0rb's, the six speed box is a big turn on, and to have an engine that rivals what they're putting in porches isn't something you come across every day. pretty good price considering some of the cardboard they try and pass off and cars these days.
and in the end saving up for one of these sounds like a lot less trouble than pulling apart engines. :D

If anyone sees an RB worth looking at give me a yell,

Cheers guys, will keep everyone updated on this! :assassin:

dont get toooo carried away with the Porsche design, but yes parts of the 3.0 were derived directly from Porsche. From experience, it will hold its own in all respects as a straight out car. The GT is more flexible to tune and what not and will give much more performance gain, but the 3.0 is something else ;)

I also have a mate who is selling a spec B here in Victoria. he driven it less than 200kms since he bought it last year. its got an exedy HD clutch, Sti V-Tune, Phat exhausts, Hids and a few other parts. give him a PM memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3264
