Postby zoidberg99 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:11 pm

Hey y'all

does anyone currently have a set of varex mufflers on a H6 3.0? im looking at getting them done on mine and am wonderin what it sounds like open and closed? is there any loss of power when they are closed compared to stock?

if anyone does have them, id be interested in what id expect to pay... cat back...

Don't think anyone here has used them. AFAIK they're considered illegal in NSW (regardless of whether they meet noise regs when wide open). Don't know about other states

Hadn't seen these before (just googled them) I really like the idea too. Pity about legality but wonder how many cops would be savvy enough to know.

I'm dubious on what grounds they can be deemed illegal even if they did (which they wouldnt) meet noise regs fully open. There is plenty of factory fitted variable exhuasts around

yeh, i have a single 2.5" varex muffler on my car... it sounds almost the same with it closed, but it takes all the bass out of the exhaust noise so it becomes very wheezy... when it's open it's very loud, but my car has extractors, 2 inline cats, a resonator and a varex muffler, 2.5 inch all the way through...

it's pretty damn loud, but sounds like sex!

this is it inside the car with the windows down and the varex open:
