There is a voltage related cutoff but I can't recall what it is exactly. I thought it only related to flashing not reading
are you using 1.42 ecuflash or the earlier one for the 'other' cable ? might be worth upgrading if you haven't, then downgrade later.

Well Im using ECUFlash 1.42 on my laptop and always have with both the "other" cable and the 1.3U cable.
Also used the same laptop/1.42 with the 1.3M Cable used to flash the ECU last week.

oh well, worse comes to worse I'll go back to the workshop and just use his 1.3M cable which worked fine last week....

That looks like the error you get when it can't see the 12V from the OBD port

hrmm, might borrow the batter charger off the old man and hook that up - see if it fixes the problem before spending $150+ on a new battery. Car still cranks over fine in the mornings, just not holding over 12V charge it seems...

Oh, and just to add, when I run LV while in diagnostic mode to check cable connectivity, i got these DTCs:
Diagnostic Trouble Code(s):
DTC TEMPORARY: P1518 STARTER SWITCH LOW INPUT
DTC TEMPORARY: P0851 NEUTRAL SWITCH INPUT LOW
DTC TEMPORARY: P0137 REAR O2 SENSOR LOW VOLTAGE

But when the car was NOT in diagnostic mode, no DTC's.

So really starting to think its a voltage problem..
