Hey guys, 1st post on here, hopefully the first of many.
I'm a Mitsu convert after driving my mates 01 RX, and I have just sold my car (a 380sx).
Tonight I'm test driving a '99 RX with 110,000kms on the clock.
Is there anything I should be looking out for, like any known problems or tricky spots?
Cheers in advance.
Look forward to many more posts in the future.
Benj

What you swap is Mitsu 380 SX model?
That's a good car mate.. if it's the 380. Got the v6 engine.
110,000 KM, maybe timing belt and CV joints, then lower arm bushes.
Bring to RACV test mate, so you will get complete check.
Thanks

Cheers mate, it was a good car, but too big and chomped through fuel.
Plus it was very cheaply fitted out on the inside and the build quality was pretty poor.
Cheers for the advice, Ill make sure to check the timing belt (it says it has recently been serviced so you'd think the timing belt has been changed).

Well, I went through a hard life from my Libs 2004 since I only check to a cheap car inspection.
Just to be careful.
Yes 380 is a full size sedan. But if you swap over, you should get a better liberty than the '99 models. Because I saw 380 still get around 15 grand.
Thanks

Yeah it's not really a step up or a side step that I'm looking for, I'm saving money for europe and trying to get rid of debt so looking around the 9-10k level.
Libs seem to be a good buy for that range...
Turns out the car was a lemon, clicky cv's, dented bonnet/quarter panels, and the thing smelled of burning oil or something...
AND there was a weird scratching noise whenever I accellerated...
Oh well, back to the drawing board!

The 2nd hand market is really down at the moment, which may work in your favour

It would supprise me if you could find a MY04 Gen 4 4cyl N/A for that sort of money... Although you may have to do a little screwing on the advertised price

. It also helps that the Gen 5 has come out as that will drop (Albeit only slightly on that sort of age car) the price a little bit as well.
Great thing about Lib's (& Subaru's in general) is that they seem to drop off a fair bit from new, but then once they reach the 8-10 year mark they start to hold their value.

Well if your budget is around 9-10K, yes I can't argue with that.
Maybe try to look around and if you still interest with your mates car, try to check it to local dealer or something.
Cheers
