Magnaflow worth the coin?

So I'm getting my exhaust done next week. Goin to the shop on Saturday to sus out mufflers

I'm just changing the back two mufflers as I already did the centre one

My question is, do you think it's worth paying a bit more and getting the magnaflows or settle for cheaper stainless mufflers?

I've seen a lot of mufflers in my day, and the saying 'You get what you pay for' certainly applies. Pay cheap. Get cheap. Perhaps not now but down the line.

I've seen and heard a few people with MagnaFlows. Sounds good with little drone. If it was a choice between MagnaFlow and Brand X, I would definitely go MagnaFlow. Otherwise check out the mods section and see what other people have gone with for the universal fit.

But no matter what muffler you settle for, try to get the largest size possible that will fit. You still get free flow benefits but the large size will help to reduce drone and excessive exhaust noise. Good luck!

I presume by "largest size" you mean largest sized body? Or do you mean largest pipe diameter?

LOL! Sorry, I meant largest body size. Thanks for clarifying that Tony. :P

well the one i am looking at is 14"body and a 4"x9"oval muffler, so its the same length as the stock ones, but smaller in diameter.
I'll be sure to post up a clip once its done

The thing you must remember is that unless the muffler is specific for the Liberty / Legacy (Which I doubt it will be) is that it will produce a difference sound (& drone maybe) to other cars.

Magna Flow are extremely popular in the US, & from what I've seen, their build quality is actually pretty damn good.

A mate of mine had a set of his Tiburon & it actually sounded really nice :D

To some degree, there's a bit of trial & error with mufflers as some members on here have experienced in order to obtain the right sound, volume etc.

Personally, I think it's worth a shot, otherwise, if you want to be safe, stick with a brand that has been used by members on a regular basis (Hitech for example - Wouldn't be my personal choice btw). That way you can get a good idea of what your in for.

I have used a magnaflow muffler on my previous n/a ride and it was great quality, quite on idle and reasonably raspy at WOT.

Make sure whoever fits it you get an agreement with them that should you not like the sound or drone of any muffler you choose, you can swap it.

the guy installing it has done the exhausts on my last 6 cars haha, i have faith in him.
He knows what i like, and isnt scared to do something different to get the right sound.

I think i have found the muffler i want, its polished stainless too, so should look great!

i cant justify the hundreds spent on hi-techs etc, i'm sure magnaflow are good enough for a bog stock 2.5NA :)

Try $1,300, which a lot of people find hard to swallow. But for some, they are limited in options so have no choice.

Hmmm, I could get full stainless exhaust custom made for that price!!
It's costing less than that for full twin 3" on my xw ute

well i've been advised not to go magnaflow.

basically, the outcome would be opposite of what i want, these would over perform, making the car quieter than it is at the moment.

so we are going for a set of custom mufflers in the rear, and tips are still being debated, trying to find twins to fit in the cut out
