centre resi removal

G'day

so the bug has bitten and the mods are starting. But i dont want to go too far to start with, just small cheap things :)

I'm thinking of getting the centre muffler/resinator taken out on the weekend and replaced by a straight piece of pipe.

Does anyone know if this would make any difference at all? I dont want it to be real loud, just sick of the car sounding like air going past.

I've seen a vid on youtube but im not sure what else the guy had done to his exhaust.

cheers

I'm thinking it will make it resonate more in the cabin, but not 100% sure.

If you wanting to get a nice note etc, I think your money would be better spent on a set of replacement rear mufflers :D

Does it make any diff for noise? Yes. Does it make any diff for performance? No. I think Craig cut open a center res and found it to be straight through design already but with a dense glass fibre packing.

I'm not really chasing power at the moment.

although when i put down a deposit on a house, i may be keen on looking into a supercharger kit, would be nice and different

Was that a GT one or NA? Would they be the same? Are the GT and NA centrepipes different? I was thinking of getting a new centrepipe made up but wasn't sure of the performance benefits.

GT. Same centre pipe and Y pipe as far as I remember.

Jim you reckon there are any performance gains to get out of centre and y-pipe?

Daz think back to when you had the Phat quads and you felt there was a performance drop. That was only from upsizing the last half meter or so of the exhaust :)
