turbo rear mufflers on NA?

Postby castek » Thu Mar 25, 2010 7:00 am

G'day guys,

eyeing off a set of mufflers on Import Monster at the moment. has some slight damage to the tip, which is ok for me and if it ever shits me i can get them changed.

question is, will they bolt directly onto my exhaust?

i just want to unbolt the factory mufflers and bolt these on.

Image

thanks in advance

Mufflers made for the Gen IV will fit your 2.5i. The only issues is the length differences between the sedan and wagon.

Do you have a sedan or wagon? If the mufflers are made for the BL, they will fit your sedan. If they're for the BP, they will fit your wagon.

i have a sedan...

it actually doesnt say if its for bp or bl

i can copy and paste the description if it helps.

might be worth the risk, pretty cheap at the moment with a few hours to go

edit: also, is it pipe legnth or muffler body? if its just the pipe, i'll cut n shut my original piping

From memory BL/BP mufflers themselves are the same size, just the tip length is different, right? So it depends if you want a more flush look or if you want the tips to be more pronounced.

Yup, all mufflers should be same same. It's just the length of the inlet pipe and the tips that differ. Although to reduce production costs I think it's just the tip lengths that vary. Which means a cheap correction if the tips are too pronounced.

I got STi quads on mine, as gerald has said earlier, they sound tinny. But I like it, raspy.. Sort of like a stock E46 M3.. Well not quite in the same league but raspy and not really deep.

On the topic of STi quads, I've seen on Japanparts that they list a set for NA and a set for Turbo. Maybe there are 2 different types?
