Got a bit problem with the clutch(Manual)

Hi all,

Today I just went to chelsea beach(melbourne), and in the springvale road, I try to accelerate hard with the car.

When I went to there, it's ok, nothing problem and run smoothly, well there's a bit sound like a bit slip but only less than 1 sec.

When I back to my friend's home, I just try to accelerate again, but now in second gear, then change in 5000RPM and I clutch fast.

After that the problem came out. My car if I stop from 0 km/h, put in gear 1, it's like slip, the car goes but there's a sound like "kkeeeerrr, kkeeerrr". It's like squeaking sound from the clutch. Change 2nd, the sound came again until 3rd, after that everything's fine.

As we go along, I feel something wrong with the clutch, but now it's come back to original like I was drive before. Nothing wrong with the car.

I like to ask something, does anyone have the same problem like my car? If yes, why is it? Because on Monday I will go to the workshop to change brake pads & machining, and maybe check all things that should be changed.

My car still in 66K and 5 years old, just bought it 2 weeks ago.

Thanks all.

I really appreciate for the advice.

Naldo

hi Naido,

i'd suggest having a read of this thread as it's quite similar to what you are experiencing.

U got the same problem with me mate? Did you know how to solve it?

Today my car is in workshop near my house. I already told them to check it. So I just need to wait for the call.

as per other thread it's probably the friction plate and/or the flywheel. If doing one it's cost effective to do the other at the same time.

I would recommend convert to solid flywheel to save a lot of money and future recurring costs.

I just went back from the workshop because I need machining and change the brake pads.

I also told them about the problem that I had when I accelerate hard. And the mechanics already knew it and my problem solve since he also try the car.

It's because from the Power Steering belt that needs to be adjusted.

I really satisfied with the service. Because now my car run smoothly and less vibration.

Last time my car a bit vibrate when I start from the 1st gear. Now it's not appear.

But now the lists that I need to change are:
1. Timing belts: $865
2. Front wheel hub: $520(both front wheels)
3. Bushes: $290

All including labor.

Is it cheap or same like subaru dealers?

I really recommend this mechanics. Because the owner works on the workshop and 1 or 2 mechanics only. Lots of subaru go there.

The workshop: Ward While Motors. 811 Whitehorse Rd, Box Hill, VIC, 3128. (03) 98906025

Just FYI if someone wants to go there. Need to make an appointment.

Thanks

Just adjusting power steering belt. That's all. I don't know another parts that is also adjusted, but it's getting better.

Now because the melbourne weather became 43 degrees, my AC doesn't work properly. It needs to be run then it's cold. If not, it won't work.

Is it normal? Now my home garage also a bit error. Only do half way to close it and another half I need to close it by my self(pushing it). LOL. :D:D

the timing belt at 66000 kms sounds a bit odd.

Already 5 years old more, the age of the car. So it needs to be replace, since I read from the manual 100K or 5 years time.

Cheers

I forgot, I still have one more problem actually from my car.

I got this car and 2 keys. But then the spare keys only for open the car, but can't start the engine.

Is it normal? But this car ain't stolen car. This makes me confused.

Thanks

I just finished servicing my car.

Changing:
1. Timing belt
2. Wheel bearings
3. Air filter OEM

Costs me 1450AUD. Is it expensive? Because the timing belt also included the bearings and stuff.

Now I just need to change my bushes.

Cheers

Sounds a little high but it depends whether you went to Subaru or an independent mechanic. For example I had the timing belt, service, gearbox and rear diff oil, power steering fluid, air filter, all for around $900 via my local independent shop. The wheel bearings shouldn't be much more than that.

I haven't come across keys for our model that only open the doors but don't start the car. I bought mine from the original owner and he only had 2 "proper" keys which start the car and also are remote entry remotes.
