can i get "that sound"

Postby ngn33r » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:33 pm

hey everyone...

You know that sound you get in pretty much any wrx....its really nice and can be compared to that "v8" sound....
is that sound achievable on a 2.5i (non turbo) my08 manual?!?!?!
is it as easy as an exhaust job???

thanksss

Best thing to do mate is jump on youtube and check out some other peoples exhaust that they have on NA 2.5s.

Short answer: No. Unless you fit unequal length exhaust headers. (Borlas).

Or the replicas if you want to go the cheap route.

Well considering how weak the 2.5i is already, any loss is a big loss.

You'd loose a bee's dick worth of power :P But a loss in this forum is just not acceptable!

That being said, I'm pretty sure a member has tried to fit the unequal headers from the US on the GEN4 with no success... In fact, I'm almost certain they found their way onto another members GEN3 :P

So if you want to get as close to that WRX rumble as possible, I would suggest doing a full exhaust with some pretty straight through mufflers & you'll get close :D

i see....

well i definately wouldnt want to lose more power.....
im barely satisfied with this power....but i keep convincing myself about the great economy i get :)

I might consider trying to fall in love with another sound (preferably one which will be easy to obtain, and possibly give extra power)
:)

thanks....

Have a look/listen to the exhaust sounds thread:

Another thing that may help with your exhaust note if you intake... I know many people (With all different types of cars) where changing the intake has made a significant difference to the exhaust note... Maybe one of our more technically members will be able to explain why this is the case :P

I know Phat GT has made a special intake system for one of our members with an NA (He knows who he is :P ) & yeah.

I'd suggest some sort of intake modification... Full exhaust... Then a tune... Should get a nice note (Hopefully the type you like :P ) & you should get a nice little power gain to boot 8)
