supporting mods to upgrade to a VF52 ...

Postby Stifull » Sun Jun 09, 2019 10:33 pm

Hi.. new to the Libertys. I believe the vf52 is a good upgrade and was wondering does that require bigger injectors, fuel pump .. Also.. does the stock ecu allow for these mods to be tuned efficiently and how much does that tune cost.. All our other Subarus we have are either wrxs or sti, all with add on ecu like powerfc or unichip.. Unichip was tuned by C&J years ago after all the goodies were installed and hasn't been touched since and power fc in the sti was turned by Matt Spry.. I am really out of touch with such things and know nothing about the LIB gt system... I have found a VF52, a good downpipe with cat and a Xforce system and I suspect that is a good budget system but what about inj and fuel pump.. and how much is a tune going to cost.. aahh soo many unanswered questions and i haven't even picked the new Lib up yet..LOL.. PS .. are xforce systems loud ? I want kwts.. not DBs LOL..

Dw65c or Kobe Motorsports upgrade fuel pump
New intank fuel filter
Id1000 injectors
Adjustable fpr
Process West tmic or fmic
Silicone inlet and throttle body hoses
Catch can/s
3” dump/cat back
Tgv delete w/ new inlet manifold gaskets
Safe tune for around 180-200awkw

You might support that power with just stock injectors, upgrade pump and adjustable fpr with raised base pressure, your tuner should be able to advise...

Hhhhmm ok.. Thanks for all that info.. I kind of suspected that. I think for the time being I will just install the xforce cat back. I am getting that Friday..

Some bits are optional, but most are common sense.
I forgot upgrade BOV lol.
And 3 (or 4) port electronic boost control solenoid.

The idea, regardless, is to identify what requires, or contributes to, the final tune.
Personally, I think sticking to a sensible max psi is a good goal on a stock engine.
For me, that’s 15psi, meaning 18 max pending aggressive throttle use in low gears in cold ambient temperatures.

Yes agree re psi.. My rex makes 185 on 16lb and could easily make 200 but on 16lb I can have fun all day long without stressing anything and 185 kwts in a 1240kg car is heaps anyway and the 2.5 has LOTS of torque. .. I am kind of enjoying the smooth quiet power of the Lib but miss the induction sound and the "rumble". I will remove the intake resonator tomorrow and that will help with the induction sound..

The tune is the key.
Especially tcu tune, plus options like launch control, si drive & throttle angle as boost controller 7,12, 15psi, flex fuel etc.
Get BtSsm or Tactrix for logging & LV.
