Ignition timing

Hi all.

I have finally managed to get my son's 2006 Outback finished. Repaired the heads, did the valve seats, new gaskets, seals, etc. Then, had to change blocks with a 2004 model, and everything seems fine except it is firing too often on numbers 4 and 2. I put the timing light on the leads, and the frequency seems to be about double. It is idling very rough, and backfires and farts under load until about 3000 rpm, when it takes off.

Any help would be appreciated.

It was running fine previously.

It has the '06 cams, all sensors and camshaft sender, coils, knock sensor, basically everything except the oil sender was swapped over. I just don't know what would make it double the firing frequency on two cylinders.
