Hey all, been a while since I've been on here.
My venerable MY98 Outback has just quite suddenly developed a serious leak. It's dribbled a little bit for a while, but just now in the space of a few days it is seriously pissing out. From what I can tell, trying to slither under the car & in a position to not get showered in the stuff, the bulk of the leakage appears to be coming out of the timing belt cover, suggesting a front-of-engine leak. So, is this likely to be a symptom of the dreaded head gaskets, or something else? How difficult would it be to tackle at home? I have good mechanical aptitude and the appropriate Haynes service book which has served me well before. How readily available, and roughly how much would I be looking at for parts (I know this will be calculated guesswork at best without knowing exactly what's popped) - I'm on a horribly tight budget & can't afford to take it to someone. All advice appreciated.
EDIT: It's blowing coolant too. I guess that's a pretty sure indicator of the gaskets.
