Evening everyone,

I just need some advise yet again I have just found out that the injectors are stuffed on my car and to be serviced for $350.... I was just wondering if anyone can advise wither its worth getting them serviced or changed and at the same time I want to change my fuel pump anyone that can help id really appreciate it

1. Cheaper to service than upgrade

2. You don't need to upgrade. Waste of money

3. Why do you want to replace pump? Just change filters for a start? How many kms?

I've done just over 85K

Okie so I chased up your other thread and I see you might be planning to run E85.

In that case, you might certainly benefit from going bigger on both pump and injectors. Not sure on your stock sizes hence the "might". In the GTs the stock injectors are 550cc stock and have a bit of headroom.

Stock is about 270cc for the 2.5i.

Top feed sti injectors go for around $150. Get them cleaned and flow tested if you can. Otherwise use your best judgement.

I installed my 550cc injectors in around 1 hour including all the fiddling around because I accidentally left a spare o ring inside and had to take apart one side to get the extra o ring out.

Quite a simple thing if you have the right tools to get the metal cover off. I think it was 14mm or 12mm bolts (4 on each side). An extension was needed.

Then it was a matter of unplugging each one and plugging the new one in.

I was too lazy to de-pressurise the fuel system before doing so. Even still not much fuel spilled out during the process.

Would recommend DIY on this one. If you've ever done anything as hard as maybe changing spark plugs, this would be on the same level in my opinion.

never done spark plugs or leads but want to as a maintenance thing and was always wondering how to get the bloody things out hehe

also here is a pic of the injectors that are in my car I found them online

Matt's threads for E85 on the 2.5i engine say that the stock injectors are fine.
If you are planning a KiDo_Tuning E85 tune then recommend you check in with Matt prior to upgrading anything.

BTW, Matt has put an E85 Flex Fuel tune on No.2 Son's MY09 2.5i wagon.
All is running fine with the stock injectors.

what is the best way to get in contact with Matt Billy also the only real reason is the injectors are stuffed n going to cost $350 for service n last night I found out I can get GENUINE SUBARU STI 565CC INJETORS PROFESSIONALLY RECONDITIONED & FLOW MATCHED 4 Piece Set for $290 inc. delivery

Also follow (subscribe) his kido tuning travel dates thread, and add your interest as dates local to you approach.

Probably just better to stick to stock injectors.
Unless you can cram more air in some how it's a waste of time, like most other NA engine mods.

And what symptom brought on the need to replace injectors?
With your level of mechanical understanding I'd be getting a second opinion, no offence intended.

You could even try a bottle of Subaru injector cleaner on a full tank.
A tank of eg Shell 98, noted for its somewhat aggressive detergent additives...

You and a mate with some mechanical aptitude could even remove your injectors, get them cleaned/serviced for around $30 each and reinstall, heaps of how-to's online... Assuming that's the issue: symptoms?

Eg recently I thought I'd blown up my car, this time for real.
It was a torn inlet tube but mostly a faulty coil pack.
I DIYed the fix for about a hungi
Well nothing actually as I'd already hoarded the required parts, from various for sale posts here.

Needless to say, I discussed the symptoms here, got good advice, and took the path of least financial resistance since the parts and labor were affordable

All sorted yesterday, saved Simmo88 money on injectors he didnt need... the tail pipe tips were a little black on stock tune, fuel trims were +11.5% so sorted it out.

Flex fuel E85/98 tune in a few weeks

Now that's a very positive result!
