Exhaust on MY07 2.5i

Postby [Liberty2.5] » Fri Aug 15, 2008 3:22 pm

Hey,

I have booked my car in to get exhaust put on :D

* 2.25 catback - no resonator - 2x 4" mufflers

Should look the goods?

Has any one else got big cannons on the back of their libs?

I can imagine it would look good 8)

Also if anyone else has done this mod, please share your thoughts (did it make any noticable power gains, etc...?)

(all i hope that is it doesnt sound like a lancer or a little riced up hyundai excel)

Let me know

Thanks

Karl

Just as i got my liberty i went around a few exhaust places to see what i can get done, and after months of research i decided to stick with the stock standard system, mainly because it already looks good and i know with re-sale value this kinda car doesnt attract the younger buyers.

The 2.5i Libertys look like the GT to the average person; the only REAL give away is the bonnet scoop so altering your exhaust, others will know your car isnt the turbo version.

By all means get it done; but you wont be gaining power since the N/A libertys breathe very good using the standard system, you will however gain that drowning noise

Resonate and marki are correct. I've always seen the exhaust as a preference mod. On it's own, it won't drastically effect performance, so is done based solely on the owner's preference. Some want quiet, some want loud, some want large cannons, some want quad tips, etc. So you do what makes you happy.

Taking a chance on a universal setup is always risky, but if it doesn't work out you can change it to somehting else (especially since you should expect droning inside the cabin without a resonator). Also at the end of the day, when it comes time to sell the car, you should still have the option to revert to the stock system. It'll be much easier to sell because that exhaust is suited to you, and it'll be hard to find someone else with the exact same taste.

Good luck! Pics and a video/sound clip would be most useful for anyone else considering the same mod.

DO what you want too !!!

ok all this about selling, if you are worried about this wouldnt you just keep the stock zorst system stashed away somewhere? and put it but on when your about to sell. 8)

i put twin cannons on mine, and it sounded like a lancer with balls...

simple as that really.. loud, and sounding nothing like a subaru..

sorry to burst your bubble if you wanted more out of it than that

Just an update. I just got 2 cannons put on the rear (bolt on, so i can return to standard when i go to sell).

Bottom line - it sounds nothing like a boxer engine, but it sort of sounds like a 6 cyl when giving it abit.. so im happy with it
