Hey guys anyone know a cheapish way to lower my liberty without losing the comfortable drive? It's an 07 n/a Liberty sedan just wondering if anyone has done or knows someone who has lowered there's and knows what to get?

Probably best to replace stock springs with lowering springs. Look around for springs which give you the amount of drop you want as it varies

I'm curious how lowering suspension is related to the engine type.....

The 2.5i has different dampers to the Spec B models, Kyb vs Bilstein which have different damping characteristics so therefore will require springs with different ratings. Too stiff or too soft a spring and the damper can't control it which will result in a choppy ride or the suspension crashing through it's travel and hitting the bump stops. Much the same as MTB suspension.

The 2.5i 5mt will be lighter at the front.
Best to look for model specific springs or research what combo or brand of springs work for other owners of cars similar or same as yours.
Iirc prova is one company that make model specific springs.
Or look at eg Kings parts table.
But research a strut spring combo that did work out as intended: anyone out there?

Im running Tein S-techs on Monroe Originals.
http://www.monroe.com.au/products/monroe-original.htmlRide is firm, but not unbearable. Handling is much improved when you have some bigger sway bars too.
Fact of the matter is, lowering a car on lowered springs alone you WILL sacrifice ride comfort. No way of getting around that.
The other option is to go coilover suspension to get the lowered look without sacrificing any ride quality. More expensive, but also more superior.
Note: check your states legalities in running coilover suspension prior to purchase.

Ended up getting Tein S tech Springs, ride is pretty good for springs not too much stiffer, but definitely noticed improved handling and less body roll through corners that with a set of potenza re003's really make the car nice and grippy
