Bad fuel economy after service

Postby instagata » Sun Jun 22, 2014 12:04 pm

Hey,

has anyone experienced a bad drop in fuel economy after a service?

Just had the 200k done and my fuel economy has gone to the dogs. I was getting between 8.9km/L and 9.4km/L for urban driving in Sydney. I initially though the ECU may have been reset, but now 3 tanks of Shell 95 later I am lucky to get above 7.7km/L for the same kind of unspirited daily drive.

Cheers.

check the spark leads, one might not have been put back on properly. does it run rough at all?

Doesn't run rough. Checked the spark plug leads all good.

Took it to my mechanic, might have a solution. Seems the previous mechanic put some air intake bypass in to the throttle body area (could be the finungulator for all I know) and it was allowing un metered air into the system. Blocked that bypass. It doesn't surge so much now.

I am going to reset the ecu today and take it back Friday to have them replace some non factory piping (one is almost kinking instead of bending)
