Timing belt kit, is there a better option than this?

Postby Surge » Wed Mar 12, 2014 6:31 pm

Found this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221194338315 ... 1438.l2649

Need to do my timing belt, valve cover gaskets etc...

Looks like that kit has everything needed (apart from tools)?
Would anyone know if those brands in that kit are any good?
Is there a better place to get the same parts?

I wouldn't mind re - using my water pump if it's in good condition. So perhaps a cheaper kit with no water pump and better branded items is out there?

Appreciate any help.

For me and my tip....OEM - timing belt kit....I would change water pump as well...and inspect oil pump while at it, that eBay kit (gmb) never heard or seen it, for me I wouldn't even choose gates...I've explain my reasons on boost addicted thread, OEM works...the last thing u want is to buy a kit of unknown/little background and find later on you've got timing issues ....or things don't fit or match up, saving few $$$ on a expensive job may not save you much in the end ....

Try Celtic Motorsport

I used mankind and luby here in Melbourne

those gmb brand stuff are a bit homebrand like.... I wouldn't recommend them for high performance cars

Thank you both for the response.

My 2.5i is far from a high performance car but I will take your advice on getting genuine subaru parts.

I'll probably go down to my local subaru to get a quote on parts and then contact celtic motorsport as well.
