Performance gains per dollar is extremely low.. Best thing you can do is put an exhaust on it, get it tuned and drive it..

Yeah there is a point! u can make power if u spend the cash ur right that the bang for buck isn't the same as spending on a gt but u can still make gains. I have a 2.5i as well and I'm keeping it and I will be opening the motor at some point.

Car mods australia has cam kits you can buy for the ej25 but they are expensive

I admire your passion and commitment. But it really makes no sense when you can just buy the turbo equivalent or h6 for the same / more power potential at less cost

Yeah I've had this convo plenty of times before !
I'm not after big numbers I'm after an outside the square unique car !
I understand the bigger costs but having a 200kw gt isn't unique it's not what I'm after

None of those cams will work, the 2.5i only has 2 cams which run inlet and exhaust valves off one cam per head

They are DOHC cams where there is an inlet valve cam and exhaust valve cam per head(hence 4 cams)

Talk to Blademaster about where he got his cams from.

If you do plan to do the hg might be worth getting some light head work and shave the head to increase comp

If you're adamant about going down this path then I can give you some pointers as I've had quite a few hot n/a motors in the past.

But I'm warning you - its not cheap, the motors are angry and temperamental, and it will get boring soon after - not to mention the cost. I know cos I've been there

My gemini made 118hp at the rear wheels from a single cam 1.6 litre

My celica made 148hp at the wheels from a n/a 2.0 litre

Then 176 hp atw with some more tweaks.

If you're keen I can tell you where this engine will make power
