I have the EJ25 engine in my Brumby ute and wanted to add a tacho.
Can anyone give me a heads up on how to do it.
I will run a tacho that has only 3 wires
red - power
black - earth
and a green which is sposed to be the "trigger" or pulse to make it work

what ecu are you using? ej25? aftermarket? I tapped my rpm signal from my dash cluster, but that signal is also connected to the ECU module.

from memory its a square wave signal? 5v or 12v? cant remember exactly...

what brand tacho you running? some brands require a certain value resistor in line with the signal and tacho...

standard ECU but with some chopping etc to get it to fit to the Brumby
Tacho is cheap Chinese digital off eBay
I thought from main feed down at coil pack
I wouldn't know which wire from ECU unless I pull the loom apart.
That's why I thought down at coil pack

Isn't it off #1 cylinder feed?

Trigger goes to coil negative.

The coils are fed constant power on the positive, the negative is switched (pulsed) to fire the spark.

You can test it with a normal 12v test lamp.
