How and what can I do to tune a 2.5i.

Postby Timmoo8 » Mon Oct 21, 2013 2:48 pm

I am interested in tuning a 2.5i liberty sedan to give it a little more noticeable grunt. Is there any chance in that happening ? Could someone help me out with a few answers

Cheers :)

You should contact Matt from kido tuning.

If you have a denso ECU it's pretty quick and easy to get a tune that will give you a noticeable improvement.
If it's hitachi then still should be possible but would cost more.

Personally I'll be looking for an E85 tune once I get a new fuel pump in and when Matt comes to canberra again.

I would suggest that as a good starting point.

As far as I know there aren't any other real ways to get decent power without spending thousands.

Thanks mate. Don't plan on spending thousands. Just want a quick tune to improve the lag I get.

How is it you get to the ecu ? I heard its under the passenger floor ?

Yeah, however I've read that you could also do some checks in the engine bay to see if your ecu is denso or hitachi.

Someone wrote that if most of the things in your engine bay are denso (like the MAF sensor), then there is a higher chance that the ECU is the same brand.
Not sure how true it is though.

I'm not sure if the tuners like their pricing to be posted, but they reply pretty quickly to PMs.

Unfortunately MY05 does not have a Denso ECU (the key feature being flashable memory) - MY07 onwards does. You can still tune the car with a Hitachi ECU, but it will require a piggyback ECU which will naturally incur additional cost, to intercept and modify signals to/from the factory ECU.

My MY08 2.5i was tuned by XRT and got a 10% gain in power and torque, and an improvement in fuel economy, without any other physical engine modifications.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Yep as above your ECU is not tune-able. Piggyback leave you no change from a couple of grand.

Pretty sure Matt has something up his sleeve for hitachi that wouldn't cost a couple of grand.
